Earlier this month, the Bundanoon Café turned 10! To celebrate, our residents joined together for some delicious treats, taking the opportunity to thank the amazing volunteers who run the café.

What began as a simple idea from sisters Janice and Helen, who were supporting their uncle as he moved into the home, has flourished into a social hub, building the wonderful sense of community at Warrigal Bundanoon, and supporting our residents through the funds raised.

Thank you to the incredible volunteers who run the café, we appreciate all that you do. 💜

Happy International Men’s Day! 💙

This year’s theme, ‘Celebrate Men and Boys’, acknowledges the ongoing contributions of men and boys within the community.

Today also raises awareness on the challenges faced by men in society and promotes the importance of providing a supportive environment where their wellbeing is prioritised.

Today we thank all the men at and our fathers, sons, brothers and friends, and we celebrate the influence positive male role models have within society! ⭐️

Last Friday, Lippy the adorable miniature pony visited Multicultural Village and Warrigal Mt Warrigal!

These animal therapy sessions were a huge hit, bringing lots of smiles to our residents who enjoyed patting and cuddling Lippy! 🐴

A big thank you to H.Parsons Funeral Directors for sponsoring these fun-filled visits that brought lots of joy to the homes.

Stirling marked Halloween with trick or treating, themed costumes and a Halloween themed intergenerational playgroup! 🎃

Our residents joined with local preschoolers for an intergenerational playgroup, where everyone enjoyed creating some wonderful artwork together. This engaging session of connection, creativity and laughter was followed by some trick or treating fun!

The trick or treating didn’t stop there! Staff dressed in themed costumes and visited our residents on Halloween, handing out some sweet treats that were sure to bring smiles!

Today marks Remembrance Day, a day we commemorate all those who have bravely served for Australia during war.

Today, also marking the end of World War 1, we acknowledge their immense courage and the sacrifices they have made for this nation.

Recently, our Hughes residents and staff celebrated the vibrant Hindu festival of lights, referred to as Diwali in India and Tihar in Nepal. Although traditions slightly vary between each country, both Diwali and Tihar are a celebration of good conquering evil. 🪔

This was a lovely day of celebration, and the home marked the occasion with colourful traditional dress and bright decorations, fitting for this meaningful celebration of light!

Last week we held our Annual General Meeting, coming together to reflect on the last 12 months and to acknowledge the year ahead.

We’re excited to announce Sophie Ray as Chair, following her appointment by the Board during the AGM. With extensive experience in human services and governance, we look forward to the guidance Sophie will provide.

Following the formalities, the evening continued with a farewell dinner celebrating Wyn Janssen and his remarkable 28 years serving the community, including the last 9 years serving as Chair.

Over this time, Wyn has helped shape the organisation into what it is today with his values-driven, humble and selfless leadership.

Wyn has had a profound impact on Warrigal and the evening was a beautiful tribute to this, and a wonderful opportunity to show our appreciation for his dedication to the older people in our care.

We thank Wyn for his significant contributions and the legacy he leaves, and look forward to the year ahead as we continue to create a world where older people feel known, loved, and connected. 💜
