“How does THIS… turn into THIS?” 🐑😂

Once upon a time Kewpie was a pristine little Wool & Whiskers princess… soft, fluffy, and looking like she belonged in a storybook. A 'townie', as the other lambs nicknamed her. Fast forward to today and she’s a mud-marinated stair potato who clearly made some bold life choices out in the paddock.

But honestly, this is the real Wool & Whiskers magic — watching personalities grow, confidence build, and animals fully embrace their wonderfully messy little lives. Clean lamb, dirty lamb… same sweet soul, just with a lot more character (and probably a bath in her near future 😅).

Farm life keeps us humble… and very well entertained. 💛

Well… I clearly blinked because these lambs have decided it’s already their 2026 glow-up era 🐑✨

I know I’ve been a little quiet on here lately, but behind the scenes the last few weeks have been full of growth — not just for these babies, but for Wool & Whiskers as a whole. There’s been a lot of learning, planning, and some really exciting opportunities starting to line up, and honestly… it feels like everything is finally moving in the right direction.

Watching these lambs go from tiny wobbly fluffballs to confident little personalities has been the biggest reminder that growth doesn’t happen overnight — but when it does start to happen, it happens FAST. And that’s exactly the energy 2026 is bringing so far.

More to come soon (I promise I’ll share when the time feels right 😉) — but for now, enjoy some lamb spam because they’re growing quicker than I can keep up with!

Sheep make excellent therapy animals due to their calm demeanor, emotionally complex nature, and gentle, non-threatening interaction style. As herd animals, they are social, capable of forming strong bonds with humans, and often provide a soothing, meditative presence that aids in emotional regulation and anxiety reduction.
_________________________________________

Here is why sheep are considered perfect for pet therapy:

● Gentle Temperament and Safety: Sheep are generally timid, non-aggressive, and passive, making them ideal for interaction with vulnerable populations, including children and the elderly. Unlike dogs, they rarely jump, bark, or bite, which can be comforting for individuals with phobias.

● Emotional Sensitivity: Research shows that sheep are emotionally complex creatures that can feel fear, joy, boredom, and anxiety. They are sensitive to human emotions and facial expressions, often acting as a mirror to the person interacting with them, fostering a sense of empathy and connection.

● Calmative Presence: Spending time with sheep encourages mindfulness, as their peaceful, slow-paced rhythm encourages humans to slow down, breathe, and live in the present moment.

● Physical and Sensory Comfort: Their warm body temperature and soft wool provide a comforting, tactile experience that can reduce stress and anxiety.

● High Intelligence and Trainability: Sheep are surprisingly intelligent, capable of recognizing faces and learning routines. They can be trained to walk on a leash, participate in therapeutic activities, or simply enjoy being petted.

● Non-Judgmental Companionship: Similar to other therapy animals, sheep provide unconditional, non-judgmental love, which is particularly beneficial for those struggling with mental health issues or looking for emotional support.

● Unique Therapeutic Experience: They offer a, different experience from typical therapy animals (dogs/cats), providing a unique, engaging way to connect with nature and farm animals.

Is he actually tired… or is this just Pickle’s default setting? Hard to say 🤷‍♀️🐶💤
(he’s been aggressively relaxed his entire life)

Today Pickle J Brown 🥒 and I visited some friends as part of his Therapy Dog Training at a wheelchair-friendly home I know from my old support work days. As usual, he was calm, gentle, unbothered by literally everything, and absolutely in his element 🐕💖

He happily accepted endless pats, handed out love, showed off a few tricks, and even did his favourite party trick — spelling words with his alphabet blocks 🧩✨ Cue smiles, laughs, and a really lovely morning that brought the household together.

We’re now “recovering” at The Strand with a cool drink — though Pickle appears to be recovering at the exact same intensity he always does 😴🍹

I feel ridiculously proud, deeply content, and more convinced than ever that Wool & Whiskers is going to bring a whole lot of joy into a whole lot of lives 💜🐾

Once upon a time, Kewpie & Karen were princesses 👑✨
Snow-white fleece. Spotless reputations. Absolutely regal.
These days?
Mud. Oil. Storm sheltering under heavy machinery instead of the shed.
Less “fairytale”, more “feral farm goblins” 🛢️🌧️
Turns out ex-princesses make their own choices — and these two have chosen chaos.
Still loved. Still happy. Still very much in charge 💜💛🐑🐑

✨ Shearing… but make it ✨trauma-informed✨ ✨

Today’s episode of “Things I Never Thought I’d Be Doing” features:

👉 desensitising the lambs to the shearers so we don’t have to do the traditional sheep-flipping rodeo.
Because the W&W sheep Team will need regular shearing to stay clean, comfy and community-visit ready, my goal is for shearing to be:
✅ calm
✅ predictable
✅ as stress-free as possible

So instead of going full clipper-happy, we’re starting slow.

You’ll notice:
🐑 Kelvin rocking the world’s worst haircut (pants removed, dignity pending)
🐑 Me randomly shearing along his back like a drunk hairdresser on a time limit
🐑 Keith not giving a single care but me also being hesitant to clip his luscious locks, just yet
🐑 Kewpie standing nearby like, “Yeah nah, this is fine.”

Is it ugly? Absolutely.
Is it intentional? Also yes.
Is Kelvin still relaxed and trusting? That’s the whole point 💚

Short sessions, no forcing, no overwhelm — just building positive associations so future shears don’t have to be a wrestling match.
Patchy today. Peaceful forever.

(FB is cracking me up with the predicted tags for all the people I know that share their names 😜)

🐾🔥 Therapy Dog Course: Day 2 of 4 (Send Help) with Therapy Dogs Australia 🔥🐾

Today’s training update, brought to you by:
Pickle, who has formally resigned from all physical activity due to weather-related grievances
Gavin, who has simply become one with the floor
Lilly the cat, who insists my lap is a required piece of training equipment
The lambs, who would like everyone to know this is a THERAPY DOG COURSE and therefore “absolutely not our problem” 😌🐑
I haven't seen nor heard from the other 5 dogs present on the property since our swim in the dam at 7am this morning 💦

For context: 🌡️ 38°C yesterday
🌡️ 35°C at 7:30am
🌡️ 37°C at 4:30pm
💨 Humidity: aggressive
❄️ Air conditioning: non-existent

Pickle’s motivation level is currently hovering somewhere between “hard no” and “don’t even look at me”. Training exercises are being attempted, immediately questioned, and then abandoned in favour of lying dramatically in the coolest square of floor available.

Animal welfare comes first — so sessions are shorter, expectations are adjusted, and listening to what the dogs are telling us (mostly “IT’S TOO HOT”) is part of the learning.

Progress may be slow…
But emotional resilience, consent, and heat-based boundaries are being mastered at an elite level 🥵🐶

Please enjoy these images of teamwork, survival, and Pickle’s ongoing protest.

🚨 OFFICIAL NAME ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨

After much deliberation (and many very valid suggestions), the newest member of the lamb gang has officially been named…

✨ KEWPIE ✨

Hot contenders included: Keri, Koji, Kimmy, Kath, Karma, Ketchup and Kezza — all strong, respectable names… but none truly captured the essence of this tiny, glowing, indoor-raised little legend.

This girl is SO white she makes the others look lightly toasted. Honestly, she’s less “sheep” and more free-range mayonnaise. 🥛🤍

She’s been raised indoors like the delicate little Kewpie doll 🎎 she is, while Kelvin, Karl, Karen and Keith were out here roughing it, building character, and judging her silently.

Bonus reason: my dog’s name is Pickle 🥒, so clearly this household is no longer a farm — it’s a condiment aisle. If anyone has a spare Mustard or Relish, let me know and we’ll complete the set. 🥒🥚🥫
I don’t make the rules. The vibes did.

Welcome to the chaos that is Snakeweed Flats, Kewpie 💜
May you always be creamy, dramatic, and slightly confused. 💅🐑💃💖

Still sitting at the front gate in the pouring rain because a dingo dared to pass through his paddock this morning.

This is not a dog. This is a very damp security system. 🌧️🐕
