Big news from the weekend — Kieren is engaged!

He popped the question and she said YES!
We’re all so thrilled for him and his fiancée as they start this exciting new chapter together.
Make sure to give him your congratulations when you see him in clinic!

Pain has tentacles that run deep – depending on the type of pain, the ramifications of the injury, the severity of the experience.

As a general rule, the suffering we experience due to being in pain isn’t just associated with the experience of pain. We suffer because of the meaning behind the pain – we can’t act in the way we want to or are used to. We often can’t work the way we want or need to, can’t socialise the way we want to, can’t parent the way we want to and can’t exist in the world the way we want to.

Rib sprains are common in winter, usually due to changes in activity levels (it’s not as nice to go for a stroll in the freezing rain), as well as the fact that we tend to hunch through our shoulders and pull them up towards our ears when its cold.

The Oakleigh Osteopathy Story

Oakleigh Osteopathy is the second clinic under the Chadstone Region Osteopathy banner, opened in 2018. Owners and Osteopaths Claire & Shaun Richardson graduated from 5 years of intensive osteopathic study at Victoria University in 2011. They have both worked in busy clinics around Melbourne, including Berwick, Chelsea, Parkdale and St Kilda, before opening their own clinic in Camberwell, followed by a branch in Oakleigh. The Oakleigh branch of Chadstone Region Osteopathy is within Oakleigh Family Medical Centre, alongside a team of GP’s and other allied health professionals. Claire and Shaun both love what they do. Claire continues to study, this year embarking upon a Professional Certificate of Pain Science - an incredibly nerdy endeavour to understand the neuroscience behind pain. Shaun is undertaking further training in the best evidence-based methods of reducing people dependence on treatment, and enhancing their ability to self-manage through movement and exercise.

Claire and Shaun are always happy to chat to patients, doctors, and other health care professionals - feel free to message this page or email us at any time.

We welcomed Ainslie to the team in October 2018 to help out with overwhelming patient demand, and she is proving a wonderful asset to the business and community!
