Dear Jeremy Rockliff and co,
Families in Oatlands were left scrambling after being given just 17 hours’ notice of the stop-work action. In a small rural community like ours, where most families are isolated and don’t have a lot of extra support, disruptions like this hit especially hard.
But we also know our Education Facility Attendants are doing this because they need better working conditions, and we want that for them too. After 28 years of no real change, it’s time for action. Premier Jeremy Rockliff and Cabinet, please listen to our community. Our children, teachers, and EFAs deserve the support and respect they need to thrive.
Please sort things out! 🙏🏼
Dear Parent or Carer,
Education Facility Attendants (EFAs) play an important role in maintaining a safe and healthy environment in our school.
As part of ongoing industrial negotiations, the United Workers Union has called a Stop Work Action meeting for tomorrow – Wednesday, 17 September 2025 for EFAs. As a result, a number of staff will be absent from the workplace. Due to this, I am unable to ensure that we can meet our duty of care to students.
To ensure we meet obligations under the Education Act 2016, a decision has been made to temporarily close the school for the school day – Wednesday, 17 September. Our School will reopen as normal on Thursday, 18 September.
I sincerely regret the inconvenience this may cause and the disruption to students’ learning. However, the health and safety of everyone in our school community remains my highest priority.
Thank you for your understanding.
Denise Bryant
Principal.
