Warning Signs to Monitor on Your Skin

Regular skin checks are important for early detection of skin cancer. You should see a doctor if you notice any of the following changes:

🔎 New Changes:
A new spot, mole, freckle or lesion that wasn’t there before
Any unusual mark on the skin, even in areas not commonly exposed to the sun

🔄 Changes in Existing Moles or Spots:
- A change in size, shape or colour
- Irregular, uneven or blurred borders
- Multiple colours within the same spot
- A mole that looks different from your other moles

⚠️ Concerning Symptoms:
- A spot that grows quickly over weeks or months
- A mole or lesion that bleeds, itches or becomes painful
- A sore, scaly or crusted area
- A spot or ulcer that does not heal within a few weeks

If you notice any new, changing or unusual spots, it’s important to have them checked promptly. Early detection could make all the difference.

We are excited to introduce Dr Lachlan, a compassionate and detail-oriented GP with a strong focus on mental health, whole-person care, and weight management. Dr Lachlan is proudly LGBTIQA+ friendly and is dedicated to providing inclusive, respectful care for all patients.

Growing up in rural communities, he understands the importance of accessible healthcare and community connection. Before becoming a doctor, Dr Lachlan served for a decade as a nurse and paramedic in the Australian Defence Force, gaining extensive experience in acute and emergency care. He graduated from Griffith University in 2023 and has since developed a passion for supporting patients across adolescent, adult, perinatal, and older adult mental health.

We are thrilled to welcome Dr Zaid to our Ocean Grove team. Dr Zaid is a locally trained doctor who completed his Doctor of Medicine (MD) at Deakin University in 2022. After gaining valuable experience at Warrnambool Base Hospital, he began his GP specialisation in 2025. Having lived in Iraq, the UAE, and Toronto before moving to Australia, Dr Zaid brings a diverse background and a passion for patient care.

Outside the clinic, he enjoys spending time at the gym and playing music. Dr Zaid has a special interest in diabetes, blood pressure, cardiovascular disease prevention, and men’s health.
