WHAT YOU CAN DO TO PREVENT CANCER IN YOUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN. “Pahs” (sounds like cars), are the main chemicals in our air and water that cause cancer today. Pahs come from smoke (cigarette, fossil fuel and bushfire smoke). Pah levels in air are increasing worldwide due to recent megafires. You can help to prevent future cancer by telling your friends about Pahs. Please share this post. People can take precautions to reduce their exposure to Pahs. Our governments need to do more to reduce Pah levels and future cancer. For more information visit pahs-cause-cancer.org and follow this page.

WHAT YOU CAN DO TO PROTECT YOURSELF
Be aware that smoke, ash, vehicle exhausts and bitumen fumes all contain Pahs. If you can smell smoke or know there are bushfires in your area stay inside and close all the doors and windows. Wear a P2 mask if you need to go outside when there is smoke, or you can smell any fumes. If bushfires are in your area, run-off from fire areas will contaminate water supplies; filter drinking and cooking water. Wear mask, gloves and wash hands when handling fireplace ash.
Eat less browned or burnt meat, and smoked foods.

WHERE DO PAHS COME FROM? The diagram shows how Pahs enter our air and water. Pahs in our air bind to particulate matter, which drops to the soil, then dissolves in runoff when it rains. They end up in nearby drinking water supplies.

WHERE DO PAHS COME FROM? Pahs are found in smoke; cigarette smoke, fossil fuel flares and bushfire smoke. Pahs are liberated into our air and water by industry, fossil fuel mining and whenever vegetable matter or crude fossil fuels are burnt.
Your government can do a lot more to reduce Pahs in your air and water, and so reduce future cancer.
