Kathryn Woods - Building Wellness

Kathryn Woods - Building Wellness Environmental and Nutritional health - qualified Building Biologist and Nutritionist However it doesn’t have to be all or nothing, expensive or complicated.

I’m a qualified Building Biologist, Clinical Nutritionist and Feng Shui Practitioner, practicing in Northern NSW (and beyond). I embrace the idea that good food and a clean, healthy environment are the best medicines. As a Nutritionist I discovered that good nutrition is just part of the solution, and that our indoor environments can have a profound effect on our health and happiness. This is more

important than ever with so many environmental toxins emerging all the time. I educate all of my clients around home health, and incorporate these principals into all of my treatment plans for Nutrition. I also do Building Biology audits in peoples homes and workplaces to help them create the healthiest indoor environments possible. This allows us to address these underlying causes for health problems, and create more powerful improvements. This could be anything from mould and moisture problems, EMF's, airquality, water quality and more. I.m also a qualified Feng Shui practitioner and as part of this in-depth work into creating harmonious and energised homes, I incorporating home health principals into my Feng Shui audits, allowing a unique and more holistic view of my clients’ overall situation, especially the underlying causes of health issues.

Yes, it's critical the mould is removed or cleaned but the most important problem to be solved is what is causing the mould and that is moisture. For example, if you have leaks you may need a plumber, if have drainage issues you may need a builder or hydrologist, if you have condensation problems a building biologist can give you advice such as how to improve ventilation or change some of your building materials.

Don't spend huge amounts of money on cleaning/restoration work if you don't have a plan of how to fix the moisture, because the mould will return and your money will have been wasted.

If you have questions regarding mould or any other building health issues please get in contact. You deserve to live in a healthy home!🏡🍏🧡.

Herbs are so easy to grow at home and can be grown in pots on a balcony or window sill if you have limited space. They're a great way to boost the nutrient value of salads (or any meal) and have some amazing medicinal qualities🌱🌿🍃.

BASIL is high in Vitamins A, C and K, Manganese, Magnesium, Iron and Calcium. As well as great health-promoting flavonoids it has antibacterial properties...and tastes amazing.
ROSEMARY is better fresh than dried and rich in Vitamins A, C and B's, Manganese, Iron, Potassium, Calcium and Magnesium. It has antibacterial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal properties and is thought to improve memory.
PARSLEY is very high in Vitamin K, Folate, A and C, Iron and Manganese. It's also high in fibre so great for digestion and can be beneficial for detoxifying toxic compounds such as Mercury.

Such a simple way to Building Wellness at home 🏡🍏🧡.

👕👖🏡🍏🧡It's very common to see mould growth inside washing machines and especially front-loading washing machines. This is because not all of the water will be completely drained and then the door is closed sometimes for up to a week. It’s this kind of dark and damp environment that promotes microbial growth, particularly in areas around the gasket where it is very common to find mould growing. Due to the harmful effects of mould on our health, it’s important to try to prevent this from happening. Here are some things that can help.
1. Remove clothing as quickly as possible after the load is finished.
2. Wipe the inside of the washing machine after it’s been used, trying to get into all the small nooks and crannies.
3. Keep the door open when it’s not being used.
4. If the room has an exhaust fan turn this on after the load is finished, and if there is a window or door open these.
5. Give the washing machine a wash regularly by running a cycle with borax, vinegar or some tea tree oil or a specialised washing machine cleaner.

If you have any concerns regarding mould or any other areas of Building Wellness please feel free to send me a message.

Perfume and fragrance are some of the worst things for healthy indoor air quality (IAQ), aka the air we breathe. They are in most cleaning and personal products and can contain hundreds of harmful chemicals. Many people are sensitive or allergic to these chemicals without realising what they are reacting to - the canaries in the mines 🐤🌻🌷.
