Thank you talented beauties for looking after my skin & brows 💕
Why is it important to invest in moments/activities/treatments that make you STRESS LESS as part of your SELF CARE?
Well, let’s talk about STRESS baby
Stress is the body’s normal reaction to any change, that occurs physically, mentally & emotionally, that requires an adjustment or response on our part. It is a normal part of life, where you can experience stress from your environment, your body, your thoughts.
Small levels of stress from time to time is healthy for us as it motivates us to adapt to make a change accordingly & helps us avoid danger. However prolonged stress that is intense & continuous can be detrimental to all levels of our health. Our body’s have inbuilt mechanisms, to keep us alive & also protected from any perceived threats.
When the brain perceives a threat, it activates the body’s sympathetic nervous system, known as the “fight-or-flight” stress response, to prepare you to be alert, ready, vigilant to best deal with the perceived threat, stimulating physiological responses to keep us in a heightened state. Once the threat is gone, the body's normal & opposite reaction is to return to a relaxed DEACTIVATED state, the parasympathetic nervous system, where “rest-digest-repair-healing” occurs.
Unfortunately, the demands of modern life means that many of us stay in this activated, heightened sympathetic stress response. The constant pressures in everyday life to be productive, alert, constantly “DOING” staying BUSY makes it hard to switch off and unwind into the relaxation state of just “BEING” in the parasympathetic nervous system of rest and reset. Over time chronic stress & chronic activation of the sympathetic nervous system can lead to serious physical, emotional & mental health problems. Stress has been shown to worsen or bring on certain symptoms or diseases, and is linked to 6 of the leading causes of death, including su***de. Stress management is crucial to help reset & unwind your bodies alarm system, helping your mind & body’s threshold to adapt to stress with more resilience, therefore being triggered less that activated state.
That is a big FOCUS of what I offer in my work, & what I found to be a really practical way to help support people with their mental health & stress regulation is by tactile – touch therapies I offer. I am relaxation specialist & really help others by supporting & regulate their nervous system & stress related conditions, by facilitating offering a deep relaxation therapy, helping others to “switch off” & reach a deep relaxation meditative state, whether it be through my nurturing massage, Reiki energy healing, hypnotherapy, guided meditations, which help activate the parasympathetic nervous system: where deep REST, RESTORATION, REPAIR & the bodies innate natural healing mechanisms can take place.. IS WHAT I LOVE TO DO.
In service,
Phoebe
