Yesterday was day 3: where the canyons were dry… but the pressure ramped up 💥

The team stepped into the dry canyon environment, putting rope skills, problem-solving, and medical response to the test. This is the point where comfort gets left behind - no fully stocked kit, no easy medical support - just your training, your team, and whatever you carried in.

Out here, you don’t rise to the occasion… you fall back on your preparation. Limited gear. Real scenarios. Critical thinking under pressure. Because the best way to learn? Train where it matters.

Day 1 and 2 have kicked off in the Blue Mountains with for Wilderness Rescue Medicine - Canyon!

Two demanding days spent sharpening techniques on flat land and steep cliff lines, setting the stage before the team fully immerse themselves in the terrain - navigating cascades, narrow passages, and water while applying both medical and technical rescue skills in true canyon environments.

The integration of medicine with rope access and rescue systems is critical through WRM-Canyon - every intervention influenced by access, exposure, and extraction challenges. In these settings, sound clinical judgement matters just as much as technical precision.

The team will jump into day 3 (literally), as we head to the canyons and refine our austere medical knowledge and roping technique’s tomorrow!
