🖥️ Neck pain from your desk job ? You’re Not Alone!

Neck pain is common in office workers, affecting up to 20% of adults in Australia each year. It’s often caused by poor posture, long hours at a desk, and screen setups that strain your neck, upper back and shoulders.

Common causes at work include:

• Poor posture
• Long hours of sitting without breaks
• Incorrect desk or screen setup
• Weak postural muscles

How to protect your neck at work:

• Ergonomic desk set up
• Take short movement breaks every 30 mins
• Stretch and strengthen your neck and shoulder muscles

There are lots of ways that people hurt their back in the morning. Tying your shoes, early morning weights session, or as this author can empathise with, lifting your daughter out of bed so she’ll get ready for school!!!!!
Why does this tend to happen first thing in the morning??? Well, while you sleep, your intervertebral discs re-hydrate and become a bit more “pressurised”. Furthermore, your joints stiffen from not moving, and your muscles are basically still waking up.
So, when you jump out of bed and bend to pick up your wiggle worm of a 10 year old up… your back isn’t quite ready for it yet.

Before you get up, roll onto your side to get up rather than blasting up sit up style (ala Kate McAlister from Home Alone 2 “we did it again!!!”), have a gentle stretch or short walk, and avoid heavy bending and lifting in the first 30 minutes.
Your back just needs a few minutes to warm up.
Or scroll straight past and ignore this, hurt your back, then book online with us!!!
Have a great week!!!!!

Winter sports athletes are madder than a sack full of cats… and we love them for it.
Who would think of going 140km+ down an icy slope or whipping off a massive kicker and going 4 stories in the air spinning like Kylie Minogue on roller skates. Whether it’s snowboarders popping airs or skiers launching, the amount of grit (and risk) is insane.
Case in point: If you live under a rock and hadn’t heard already, Lindsey Vonn came into the 2026 Winter Olympics pushing her limits despite a completely ruptured ACL and then suffered a serious crash just 13 seconds into the downhill that left her with a complicated tibial fracture requiring multiple surgeries. She’s in her 40s. This author is in his 40s and purposely got a lower bed to ensure he doesn’t get injured when getting up in the morning.
Athletes at these Games have sustained cervical fractures during snowboard training to concussions and more.
So yeah… winter sports athletes??? 🦇💩
Yet... that fearlessness needs to be balanced with smart training to stay healthy and competitive.
Nothing more to add. Enjoy the weekend!!!

Preseason is here! Winter sports are starting back
With preseason training kicking off, the sports people of Orange are pushing hard to get match fit. While this also brings an increased risk of soft tissue injuries like calf strains and hamstring tears.
Ways to Reduce Your Risk…
• Gradual Load Increase: Avoid jumping straight into high-intensity training. Build up distance, speed, and resistance over weeks.
• Dynamic Warm-Ups: Activate muscles before training with exercises like leg swings, lunges, and high knees.
• Strength & Conditioning: Focus on hamstring, calf, and glute strength to support your joints and absorb impact.
• Flexibility & Mobility: Stretch and foam roll regularly to keep muscles supple.
• Recovery: Prioritize sleep, hydration, and active recovery to allow tissues to repair.
Early attention to soreness or tightness can prevent a minor strain from becoming a long-term injury. And obviously if you do get injured, book in with us!!!
Stay smart, train hard, and have a safe preseason (or end up injured like this old man)!!!
