💜 World Prematurity Day 💜

Today we honour the tiniest fighters, the families who walk this journey with incredible strength, and the health teams who support them.

Every year, thousands of Australian babies are born premature, or before 37 weeks gestation.

Prematurity can bring challenges — from feeding and growth to sensory and motor development — but it also brings a community of support, care and hope.

At CKH, our OT's and physio's often meet and work with families of premature babies, to help them meet all their milestones, big or small. From supporting early feeding and bonding, to building strong movement foundations and guiding families through early milestones, allied health plays a powerful role.

To all the parents, caregivers and amazing premature babies — today we celebrate your courage. 💛

Let’s keep raising awareness, support and understanding for our smallest community members.

AAC Awareness Month 🗣️

October is AAC Awareness Month, a time to celebrate the amazing diversity of communication and the wonderful individuals who remind us that there are so many ways to connect, share, and be heard!

AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) can include gestures, visuals, sign language, communication books, and speech-generating devices — all of which give people different ways to express themselves and connect with the world around them.

This month, lets celebrate those who use AAC every day, showing us that communication is about connection, not just words.

A big shoutout to all the incredible Speech Pathologists across our Central West community. We love working with you all, and seeing your passion for helping every person find their voice.

🧩 DCD Awareness Week

Last week was DCD Awareness Week!
DCD is a motor skills condition that affects a child’s ability to plan and coordinate movements.

Children with DCD may find everyday tasks like handwriting, getting dressed, riding a bike or joining in with sports more challenging. But with the right support, they can build the skills and confidence they need to participate and succeed in their own unique way.

Paediatric Physiotherapists play a key role in helping children with DCD. We understand how to support their strength, balance, coordination, and motor planning through fun, purposeful movement and play.

To all the incredible kids with DCD — your determination, resilience, and creativity inspire us every day! 🌟

Swipe to learn a few quick facts about DCD 💜
