💜 Meet Mia 💜

In October last year Mia tore her meniscus, which ended up requiring surgery in November. Mia spent 3 months in a full leg brace before starting the long recovery back to dancing!

After months of dedication to her rehab and physiotherapy, last month Mia participated in the Orange Eisteddfod, which was her first solo competition since her injury. We are SO proud of Mia who placed in every single section with her solo's, including placing 1st in two of her Tap solos!

We are SO proud of Mia and all the hardwork and dedication she put into getting herself back to dance!

Our September presentation is running NEXT WEEK on Thursday the 18th 👏

Our parent information evenings are run by CKH OT’s, aiming to support your understanding of your child’s regulation and behaviour, and provide you with helpful strategies.

The presentation will focus on 'understanding and supporting your childs regulation and behaviour' ⭐️

Our information evenings provide:
💜Evidence-based and up to date information
💜Information to support your child, no matter their age, stage of development, or challenges
💜Small group numbers, families do not need to be a current client or on our waitlist to attend.

If you cannot attend our September evening, our final session for the year will be held on:
⭐Thursday 20th November

Note that our November evening will focus on supporting regulation during the holiday period.

Sessions run from 6pm-7:30pm and cost $30pp to attend.

We may be biased, but we think being a physio working with kids is the BEST job in the world. We get to watch those super hero’s take their first steps, ride a bike for the first time, or kick their first goal in soccer 💜

To be a part of that journey is something pretty special 💛

Our OT team at CKH are offering Transition to School Screeners for any children commencing school in 2026 during the SEPTEMBER SCHOOL HOLIDAYS!

Benefits of a TTS screener:
💜Early identification of strengths and challenges
💜Supports a smoother transition
💜Provides practical strategies to support learning
💜Empowers parents/carers & teachers

Screeners will occur only on Tuesday the 30th of September and Wednesday the 8th of October, so you must have availability on these days.

🦸Its Spina Bifida Awareness Week!🦸

The first week in September in Australia is dedicated to raising awareness in the wider community about people living with Spina Bifida.

What is SB❓
💜Spina Bifida is a type of neural tube defect that affects about 5000 Australians.

What does this mean❓
💜This means that the neural tube that encloses your spine doesn’t close properly during foetal development, leading to damage and poor formation of the spine and brain.

What is the role of Physio and OT with kids with SB❓
💜Physios and OT's work with people with SB to help them be as independent as they possibly can be! This often looks like working on mobility and strength, and also scripting equipment to help with getting around their environment!

One of our little besties at CKH has Spina Bifida. His name is Quillan and we think he is an absolute legend 🦸 Quillan has been working SO hard over the past 4 years to be able to do all the things he can today. Check out his new wheels in some of the photos in our video 👨‍🦽
