Meet Emma J | The fresh face at OT Plus

Emma recently joined our team as she begins her graduate year and we are so pleased to welcome her to OT Plus.

She has settled in beautifully and brings a warm, friendly personality to our workplace. Emma is eager to learn, ready to take on new challenges and willing to give anything a go. We are excited to support her as she grows into her role and contributes to our team.

Orange, NSW - A community OT role built for learning, autonomy and balance

Swap traffic for five-minute commutes and spend your weekends in beautiful wine country

At OT Plus, you’ll join a calm, well-organised community practice where the work is meaningful and the systems actually make sense.
We’re hiring new graduate and experienced Occupational Therapists for flexible community-based roles.

Why you’ll like it here
✔️Support that fits you – structured guidance for new grads, autonomy and trust for experienced clinicians
✔️Strong and growing aged care practice – Support at Home, HCP, CHSP, STRC and TACP with sensible systems and shared caseloads
✔️A chance to do aged care differently – contributing to new models of support beyond standard service delivery
✔️Flexibility that works – school runs, appointments and real life are genuinely factored in
✔️Variety without chaos – Aged Care, NDIS, home modifications and assistive technology
✔️Admin that doesn’t crush you – solid systems that do the heavy lifting
✔️We place a strong emphasis on supporting and educating families, not just delivering therapy.
✔️We are actively growing the aged care side of our business, including the development of telehealth support for adult children of ageing parents across Australia. This work focuses on education, prevention and practical guidance to help older people stay safe, independent and supported at home, while reducing stress for families.

Grow @ OT Plus – 12-Month Graduate Program
✨For new grads who want structure without pressure:
✨Weekly supervision
✨Clinical workshops
✨Shadowing and joint visits
✨Protected professional development time
✨Gradual, supported caseload building

The role
🔸Community-based caseload across Aged Care and NDIS
🔸Home modifications, assistive technology, assessments and capacity building
🔸Opportunities to contribute to education-based and telehealth aged care initiatives (optional, based on interest)

After Christmas, many adult children head home with a quiet feeling they can’t quite shake.

Something felt different this year.

Maybe you noticed changes in mobility, memory, routines — or how much you were quietly helping without realising it.

That feeling is worth listening to.
Most families don’t need to rush into big decisions — they just need clearer information and a plan.

If you’re wondering what you saw and what to do next, I’ve created a free guide and an upcoming course to help families support ageing parents safely and confidently at home. 💛🏡

Christmas with an ageing parent can be incredibly special. 💛

It’s often a time to slow down, share stories, look through old photos, laugh about old Christmases, and connect in ways that busy life doesn’t always allow.

Sometimes it’s the quiet moments — sitting together, listening, reminiscing — that become the most meaningful.

If you’re spending Christmas with an older parent today, lean into those moments.
Ask about their favourite Christmas, family traditions, or stories you’ve heard a hundred times but still love.

And if the day also brings up thoughts about how they’re coping at home, that’s okay too.

Support can be planned gently and early.

OT Plus had a wonderful time celebrating their Christmas Party at .

We had the most enjoyable afternoon with our amazing team, taking in the breathtaking views under a shady tree and enjoying some top quality wine and platters. It was a great way to wind down after another successful and busy year at OT Plus.

Every December, we see the same pattern as OTs.

Adult children spend a little more time with Mum or Dad… and start noticing small changes they hadn’t seen before. 👀

Maybe they’re moving more slowly. 🧑‍🦯
Maybe their memory isn't what it once was 🤔
Maybe the house doesn’t feel as safe as it once did. 🏡

Noticing these things isn’t about panic.
It’s about awareness and giving families more options before a crisis forces decisions. 💛

If you’re supporting an ageing parent, I’ve created a free guide and an upcoming course to help families understand what to look for and what actually helps.

🎄🎄🎄 Christmas is often when families start noticing changes in their ageing parents 🎄🎄🎄

Spending more time together can highlight things that haven’t been obvious during the year - changes in balance, memory, routines, or just how well someone is really coping at home.

We’ve recorded a short 8 minute video to talk through:

🤔 early signs that may need attention

👴 what’s part of normal ageing (and what isn’t)

🤯 how to think about next steps without panic or overwhelm

We’ve also created a simple Christmas check-in checklist you can use with your parent to help you notice patterns and decide whether extra support might help.

👉 Download the checklist here:

If this brings up questions or concerns, We also have a course coming soon called Caring for Ageing Parents at Home: Safety, Support & Sanity for Families.

It goes deeper into falls, frailty, memory changes and navigating aged care without burning out.

👉 Join the waitlist here:

If this resonates, you’re not alone. Early awareness makes everything easier later - for parents and families.

Wishing everyone a safe and gentle Christmas 💚❤️💚❤️
