Great post from our friends at Integrity Therapy Services. The rate for OT under NDIS has not increased in 7 years and now some professions have had a decrease, along with a 50% reduction in the travel rate across the board. Allied Health practices simply wont be able to afford to visit clients in their homes. If you share our concerns contact your Federal MP.

🚨 NDIS Pricing Freeze & Travel Cuts – What Does It Really Mean? 🚨

Let’s talk reality. The NDIS has frozen pricing for Allied Health services again – and to make things worse, they’ve halved the amount providers can claim for travel.

In regional areas like ours, that’s a direct hit to the people who rely on us most.
We’re being told that participants should attend a clinic instead.
Sorry… what clinic? Where?
No transport. No local services. No available support workers. And now, no funding to get to you either.

How does someone with a complex physical disability have their assistive technology reviewed??? Load it all into their car and bring it to the "local clinic", which could be 100kms away or more?

🔍 We’re being asked to treat people in offices or via screens –
But how do you measure a ramp through Zoom?
How do you assess someone's ability to move around their kitchen… from an office chair?
How do you support someone with dementia or a brain injury outside the safety and familiarity of their own home?

This isn’t just a funding issue. It’s a care quality issue.
It’s inequitable. It’s unsafe. And it’s simply absurd.

We won’t compromise on our values. We will always advocate for best practice – which means delivering therapy where it actually works: in people’s homes, where life happens.

Jenna baking with one of her lovely clients! 🧁

Jenna spent the afternoon making muffins with all three clients in their SIL home. One client was a little unsure at first and stayed on the couch, as she doesn’t usually like strangers.

While the other two joined in at the kitchen bench, Jenna brought the muffins over using a travel tray so everyone could be included.

By the end of the session, they were chatting away about colouring books — a little connection goes a long way 🙂

Recently, one of our wonderful clients travelled to Sydney to visit her daughter’s new apartment — a goal she’d been looking forward to.

We’re incredibly grateful to the team at Stryker for helping make this possible. When Kelly reached out to Nick Jones, he went above and beyond, volunteering his own time to support our client. Thanks to Nick’s generous help and the use of the Xpedition powered stair chair, she was able to climb the stairs with confidence and ease.

We couldn’t have asked for better support. Thank you, Nick — people like you truly make a difference in the lives of others.
