💡 Working memory is your brains sticky note- holding information just long enough to use it 💡
Working memory helps us keep track of information for a short time so we can complete a task. It’s what lets you remember a phone number long enough to dial it, follow a teacher’s instructions, or keep the first part of a sentence in mind while finishing writing it.
When working memory is tricky, people may forget instructions, lose track of tasks, or need things repeated often.
OTs support working memory by reducing the load on the brain. This could be by using visuals, checklists, routines, and strategies that make information easier to hold onto. The goal isn’t to do more, but to make tasks feel achievable and less overwhelming.
