Happy World Skin Health Day! 8th July!
Today we spent the morning at the Orange Health Service supporting our local hospital workers, by providing sunscreen, coffees, and answering questions. Thank you to everyone to came by, said hello, and filled out our survey!
World skin health day is about increasing awareness about the importance of skin health.
A huge shout out to Baz Hamo of Propaira Australia for providing 200 bottles his new ‘Reflekta’ zinc sunscreen for our health care workers.

CONQUERING SKIN CANCER SCREENING Thank you to all of those who attended the screening of “Conquering Skin Cancer” at Oedeon 5 cinemas last Wednesday night.
The screening was held as a fundraiser in support of Cancer Care Western NSW, an organisation that provides accommodation to patients in Central Western NSW region receiving cancer treatment in Orange. Cancer Care Western generously supports the ACEMID Melanoma Research Project at Pinnacle Dermatology.

The screening will be held as a fundraiser in support of Cancer Care Western NSW, an organisation that provides accommodation to patients in Central Western NSW region receiving cancer treatment in Orange. The 250K Youth Project team have released an animation for teens which explains how to manage eczema (atopic dermatitis) on a day-to-day basis, as well as managing eczema flares.

🚨 New Melanoma Imaging Trial Open And Free!

🏥 ☀️ Australia has the highest rates of melanoma in the world. Detecting it early can be the key to survival.

On Friday I attended the official launch of a brand new 3D skin cancer imaging scanner in Orange at Pinnacle Dermatology.

📸 It’s cutting edge technology with 92 cameras that build a 3D image or avatar of the body. Melanoma researcher Professor Pablo Fernandez-Penas officially opened the site.

📸 It’s part of the world’s largest melanoma imaging trial. The aim is to build a data base that AI can transform into the world’s best early detection tool.

This will be a gamechanger in melanoma diagnosis.
Believe me, I know how important early and accurate detection ca be.

☀️ A number of years ago I went to a skin cancer doctor and told him I had a mole that looked like melanoma.

☀️ He told me it wasn’t melanoma but that if I really wanted it taken off, he would do so. I told him I really wanted it removed that day and it turned out to be melanoma.

☀️ Seven years later, in 2010, it was only by chance that I noticed a lump on my beltline and got it checked out. That cancer had got into my lymph nodes and I was diagnosed with stage 3 melanoma.

☀️ After the operation to remove the lymph nodes, I was given a 50/50 chance of survival. I went on an immunotherapy trial for four years after that.

🏥 Early detection can save your life and this machine and the technology that will come from it will help take the guess work out of diagnosing deadly melanomas.
