There is a misconception that you have to be good at art, or a creative to participate in an Art Therapy session. This is far from the truth!

When words are too hard to verbalise, or when one does not have the confidence to use voice, expressing one’s emotions in a creative way in a safe environment, allows children to tap into their inner resources, develop a sense of competence, and experience a positive boost in their self/esteem.

A favourite mindfulness activity with children, is the Mindful Belly Breathing technique. Children enjoy creating their own meditation stone which is grounding and therefore regulating one’s nervous system, along with placing a stone on their belly to feel the stone rise and fall as they take a big breath in and breathe out.

Tomorrow, Feb 28th will once again mark Rare Disease Day, a global campaign celebrated on the last day of February each year (the rarest day on the calendar) to raise awareness about the more than 7,000 rare diseases – including appendix cancer and pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP).

I’m a massive fan of having visited I’ve been enthralled with many of his scenic cooking shows via BBC for a few years now and today my experience with family at his new venue in Coogee did not disappoint!

I’m loving Rick’s signature dishes including fish pie and crab soufflé !

Drawing voluptuous peonies that are now in season. I seriously cannot get over the size of the blooms!

Images you see in this post the Peony is white. I purchased a fresh bunch and they were bright pink in colour. I’ve enjoyed watching the various colour hues this bloom creates.

Peonies grow very well in Orange being a cooler climate. Planting these beauties are on my list to do next season!
