📢 Positive News for Audiology

On 12 September 2025, the National Health Ministers met in Perth and agreed that audiology will be regulated under the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme (NRAS). This means that, in time, audiologists will be registered with AHPRA, just as physiotherapists, optometrists and psychologists are today.

This is a landmark decision, the result of many years of persistent advocacy and hard work by organisations including Independent Audiologists Australia, Inc (IAA), who have consistently championed the recognition and protection of our profession.

At this point:
✅ The decision has been made to bring audiology into NRAS.
⚖️ The next step is amending the National Law and working through the details of how it will be implemented.
⏳ Timelines, costs, and transition arrangements are not yet confirmed.

At A Better Ear, we support this move. It strengthens recognition of audiology as an essential health profession and underscores the high standards of care that patients rightly expect. We look forward to more detail in the coming months and will keep our community informed about what this change will mean for practitioners, clinics, and patients. 🎉💡👏
