We are a referral-based (by appointment!) service with clinics in Osborne Park and Bunbury. Everyone has the right to sit comfortably and having a disability doesn't mean forgoing a sense of adventure in life. We stock an extensive range of clever, off-the-shelf seating and mobility equipment for infants, children and adults.

It's time to give a bit of love to our Admin team! They may not be the faces that you see when you visit us but they are certainly names that will appear in your inbox if you work with us!

Nadia (left) and Sue (right) are some of our long-timers, both having been part of the Motum team for many years now 🙌🏼

They, together with Sophie, Nicole, Gemma and Sonia, work behind the scenes to turn all our clinicians' scripts into quotes... and then, as funding approvals come through, into new equipment! 👨‍🦽👩🏿‍🦼

WORKING WONDERS 🛠️

They say that behind the scenes is where the magic happens ✨...and it's true!

Our workshop technicians troubleshoot unique and often complex problems every day.

Tom, our workshop supervisor, is more than just handy on the tools, he also uses lots of creativity to create custom solutions and work out why something isn't functioning like it should!

We'll use this post as a timely reminder...if your equipment is due for its 2025 service please don't leave it too much longer before you book it in - November and December are always BUSY! 🤪

CONVERSATION + CONNECTION

A big part of the work we do involves listening and asking questions. When scripting any piece of custom equipment its often the smaller details that can make a HUGE difference to the end outcome (which in our line of work = comfort and functionality...pretty major stuff).

Rebecca, an OT and our Clinical Team Leader, is regularly found chatting through how our wheelchair simulator SIMO works.

(Spoiler: It can be a really useful scripting tool for long-time active wheelchair users who are looking to optimise their next wheelchair, but also want to have a sense of how it feels and propells before it gets made!)

SPECIAL DELIVERY

Did you know that the average wheelchair that we supply typically includes components from 4-10 different suppliers?

Nicole is our logistics whiz. She checks every thing as orders arrive from around the world. She also keeps track of what's here and what we're still waiting for, juggling priorities constantly to keep deliveries, builds and handovers flowing!

TEAM DAY '25

We busted out of the office and left the vans parked up today, bringing the Motum gang together to make a South American street food feast 😋 🔥 ✌🏼

It was great to get almost everyone together… including our Bunbury-based crew. Yet again, we had a fab few hours learning, working and eating at Salt & Company Cooking School !

COLLABORATION

Earlier this week it was World Physio Day so we'll give a belated shout out to our own exceptional PTs here!

Donna and Penny (plus Jen, not pictured) take on the majority of walker and stander trials, alongside other complex equipment prescription.

Our team are constantly sharing their knowledge and insights with one another. Here, instead of worrying about having their photo taken, Donna was busy learning some of Penny's tips and tricks about setting up the Size 1 Rifton Multistander for trials! 🤓

CREATIVE PROBLEM-SOLVING

Dale is our research and development technician. He's responsible for some of the creative and practical in-house products we've added to our line up, like our quick swap accessory range for wheelchair users.

He's also our source of knowledge for all things 3-D printed and CNC- related...and a known practical joker....so look out 😜

HASHTAG VAN-LIFE 😉

While not quite living in their vans, our clinical team certainly do get around as they complete community-based trials and handover appointments all over WA!

Here we have Jess, one of our OT superstars, getting ready to handover a new Josi stroller (this one has been fitted with the all-terrain wheels as part of our beach pack 🏖️)...

The days when we get to deliver much-awaited items that help with independence and/or fun are ALWAYS the best 🙌

BACK STAGE PASS 🎟️

While our workshop assistant Marcos may be one of the less familiar faces in our team, the role he plays is vital!

Behind-the-scenes he's ALWAYS busy doing something - from making sure demo equipment is accessible for our clinical team, to unpacking boxes to building strollers, activity chairs and walkers.

Marcos is also passionate about sustainability and he champions it in our day-to-day operations. He's a master at re-homing the large volumes of bubble wrap and other packaging materials that we receive via our local buy-nothing page! ♻️💪🏽

THE BOSS (unofficially, but true 🤭)

If you've visited us in recent years Sophie will be a familiar face. She's also often the cool, calm voice at the end of the phone helping to troubleshoot breakdowns and schedule emergency repairs.

Sophie runs a tight ship and is a master juggler. In addition to providing a warm welcome and responding to general enquiries, she manages our technicians' calendars, overseeing modification and repair bookings and keeps the rest of the office whipped into shape.

Fun fact... Sophie is HUGE Freo Dockers supporter so if you need to ask a favour (...or post a photo of her 😉) the best day to do that is after they've had a win!! 💜

We'll kick this off by (re)introducing our PWC guru Clint and OT Olivia!

This is also the 'behind-the-scenes' spot where our clinical team spends A LOT of time. It's a work area we all use to get equipment set up in advance to ensure trial and scripting appointments run smoothly (and why we ask for referral forms to be completed in advance!).

CHAMPIONING FUN...AND INNOVATION

This year for the ATSA Independent Living Expo we wanted to share our passion for opening doors and unlocking potential. We enjoyed getting to have some robust conversations about this (alongside the everyday A.T. we supply) with visiting therapist colleagues and equipment users.

It was also great to be able to showcase a hand-picked line-up of stellar items from:
