🧘‍♂️ 🐚Our first group of future meditation teachers! 🐚 🧘‍♂️ We’ve just finished a deep immersion into our first week of 12 weeks training.

This wasn’t just a week of learning information and techniques for meditation, it was a journey of transformation with tears, laughs, hugs, realisations and releasing of samskaras.

Many of our students were surprised by the depth of the training with Prem (centre of this picture), some thinking they were coming for a superficial surface level experience only to find out they were going to come to terms with parts of themselves they didn’t even know were there holding them back.

We aren’t just teaching people how to guide meditation, we are teaching people to resolve their own pain and raise their consciousness so that just by their presence other will feel their strength, love, faith and healing.

This is just the beginning. We can’t wait to see who we all become by week 12.

At Heart & Soul Vedic Institute we guide our students through a deep understanding of the yogic practice and philosophies, beyond just the yoga asanas. By following the 8 limbed path of yoga according to Pantajalis Yoga Sutras, we can reach samadhi - an eternal meditation, a state of equanimity, presence and freedom from suffering.

Our teachings are lead by the philosophies, of the Vedic texts that state the truth of what we really are can be found within. By following the steps laid out along the yogic path we can reach samadhi, find the true self, and live in eternal bliss, Sat Cit Ananda Vigraha.

We still have a few paid placements available for our first 3 month meditation immersion, a path toward transformation that combines movement (asanas) with meditation (dharana and dyhana) for a holistic approach to the yogic teachings, underpinned by the modern neuroscience of today.

Yoga asana led meditation - what a powerful experience with lots of releasing as we worked on our hips while focusing deep within our bodies.

The hips hold emotion, so when we stretch this area and focus deeply within we can unlock and release old self limiting beliefs.

In the Vedic tradition it is understood that the universe is made of 3 energetic quality’s, the 3 Gunas; rajas, tamas and sattva. We all carry these qualities at varying degrees.

Tamas provides the solid foundation from which all things form, rajas gives the movement, the life force to form and sattva brings conscious awareness.

With these modes of being in the right balance we experience life harmoniously. We carry an inner stillness, the right amount of motivation and pure awareness into every moment.

Once we start to become aware of these 3 energetic qualities we can begin to balance them.

If one carries too much rajas for example, they become unfocused, agitated, over confident and self centred. Too much Tamas and they become lazy, bored, helpless.

We can address these energies through our choice of activity and food. Rajasic food includes anything that brings heat and stimulation, such as chilli and coffee. Tamasic food brings heaviness, think potato chips, meat, anything processed.

As described in the Bhagavad Gita, a yogi’s goal is to cultivate a sattvic lifestyle, allowing one to overcome material attachments and ego centred ways of thinking.

Our aim at Heart & Soul Vedic Institute is to provide our students with a sattvic lifestyle - light, violence free food including fresh vegetables, free of onion and garlic (which have Tamasic and rajasic qualities), yoga asanas, meditation and time in nature.

Back in the 80s, at only 13 years our teacher Percy Garcia (aka Prem, far right), was given the opportunity to study in the traditional yoga schools of India.

Coming from Peru this experience was impressionable to say the least. Prem experienced an ashramic life, free from the attachments of the material world and gained knowledge of the Vedic philosophies and practices, and the language of Sanskrit that has allowed him to become a powerful guide for those embarking on the path of transformation.

Since this precious time in India, Prem has been teaching the transformative benefits of the Vedas, and the science of the human body to help people become more content, more motivated and more focused. Allowing them to unlock their purpose and act with faith.

His compassionate wisdom, deep knowledge and lived experiences are unlike many teachers you will come across. To learn from him is quite the honour.

Christine lived with us for 6 months. During that time she tapped into the deep well of wisdom she always had within her to come out on the other side as a renewed person. She found the tools, practices and philosophy she learned was profoundly beneficial and now uses them in her everyday life.

Prem is teaching a deep dive into the practice of meditation from a Vedic / yogic perspective. We’ll learn asanas for meditation, philosophy, history, as well as the modern day science that explains how it works.
