🌊🤔💬 “You will never discover new oceans if you are too afraid to lose sight of the shore.” 🌊🫣

This week our little delivery car had an unfortunate run-in with a kangaroo 🦘🚗💥. Some might say, if we never had the car, we’d never have the damage...

But that’s not how we operate…🫣. We’d rather take the risk of setbacks than stand still. When it comes to growing services for our community, we’re not afraid of a few bumps in the road 🚗💥.

Sometimes that means challenges😓. Sometimes it means repairs⚒️. But it always means pushing forward. 🙌 Advocating for more services, better access and stronger care for our rural community 🌾💪.

Yesterday, Pharmacist Alex’s A1 and A2 👨🏻‍⚕️👩‍⚕️💊 were lucky enough to be invited down to Speed, to Downdale Pastoral farm 📍🚜🌾.

We borrowed the photographic 📸 expertise of local farmer and photographer Phil Down for a spectacular evening tour of his farm 🙏😍.

Soaking up the brilliant yellow canola fields, and walking amongst the swaying barley crops instilled such inner peace... ☺️ truly a natural relaxant, if we have come across one! 😮‍💨

😲 🤓 It was so fascinating learning from Phil’s vast experience of farming…He explained with passion and excitement about the the science, and planning (and hard work) that goes into growing a crop🌾.

“There is something so humbling about growing something with your hands” 🤲

“This [farming and the land] is what makes us feel alive” 💜

Agriculture is truly ingrained (ha! Pun 😏) into our region’s way of life. As pharmacists💊, we seek to better understand our communities we serve…to help come up with practical ideas and solutions 💡
to issues that effect our patients in their day-to-day lives. 🫶🤔.

Thank you Phil 🍻 🙏 for sharing with us your insights, and your stories…and for sharing the best spots of enjoy the beautiful Mallee landscape around us. 🌅

💜 We love the wonderful initiative from Ouyen P-12 College and Mallee Track Health & Community Service to raise awareness for upcoming Dementia Week.

🧠 Dementia affects over 421,000 Australians, with 250+ new diagnoses daily. Pharmacists support patients and carers through medication reviews, blister packs, and ongoing advice to make treatment safer and simpler.

As part of the Dementia Week activities, local groups were invited to decorate a recycled wooden pallet 🌳.

✅ We painted our tree with supplies from Poole's Home Hardware 🖌️🛠️.
✅ To give it a pharmacy touch, we decorated it with gelatine capsules filled with coloured salt – a bright, creative ode to our profession 💊✨.

This project brought together community, creativity, and awareness – reminding us all that small actions make a big difference in supporting those living with dementia. 💜 🫶
