Watch out peeps! 🫨 Impulse control is now your friend. 😉

In less than 24 hours, Mars will conjoin Neptune at 2° Aries. This is not something we’ve experienced in our lifetime.

Neptune takes about 165 years to move through the zodiac, so this is the first time in over a century that Mars & Neptune are meeting here, at the very beginning of Aries, the sign of initiation.

This is new, active territory, something you will feel in real time.

Mars is action, instinct, movement.
He is the part of you that says, “go.”
Neptune dissolves boundaries.
He heightens sensitivity, imagination, intuition… but also blurs clarity.

Together in Aries, these two archetypes create a very specific experience:
You may feel compelled to act before you fully understand why.
You may feel pulled toward something that feels meaningful, important, even significant… but you can’t quite explain it yet.

This can look like:
A sudden desire to begin something
Reaching out to someone unexpectedly
Making a decision quickly
Feeling drawn in a direction that doesn’t fully make logical sense yet

And all of that is part of the energy.

But there’s another side to this that’s important to stay aware of. Because Neptune doesn’t just inspire… he can also obscure. So alongside that pull to move, you’ll want to watch for:

Acting too quickly on something that isn’t fully clear
Projecting meaning onto a situation that hasn’t revealed itself yet
Making assumptions without enough information
Feeling energized one moment and strangely depleted the next

This is what happens when Mars moves through a Neptunian field - You’re moving, but the terrain isn’t fully visible yet.

And what makes this even more significant is that this is all happening within a larger concentration of planets in Aries right now. So the energy is already building… already pushing forward.

This conjunction becomes a trigger point inside of that… something that can initiate action, decisions & new directions that carry forward from here.

If something feels genuinely aligned, you’ll notice that it holds a steady feeling in your body, even if it’s new. If something feels urgent but unclear, give yourself just enough space to check it before acting.

Stay connected to what is actually real, not just what feels intense in the moment. Because with Mars & Neptune together, intensity & truth can feel very similar.

And this IS the beginning of something.
We’re just not seeing the full picture yet,
But we are stepping into it.

Every read is such perfection. ❤️ While I (obviously!!!) believe in being proactive in life and daring to reach for our dreams I also actively practice being present and (doing my best to) accept what is - 'just is'. My favourite Rumi quote is 'This place where you are right now, God circled on a map for you'. This post speaks to all this so beautifully so with aging only one of the times we can get gobbled up by our phantom lives I thought a great share. Wisdom like this is so supportive of the internal resources to find peace no matter what life brings. Cos let's face it, it is never what we expect it to be!!! ❤️

For the soul drowning in the bitter disappointment of a life that didn't go as planned: read the Buddha's wisdom. 🍂

You spent your younger years looking toward the horizon, patiently waiting for the grand payoff.

Culture handed you a very convincing script about this chapter of life. You were promised that if you worked diligently, sacrificed your own desires, and raised your family well, you would eventually step into a golden era. You expected a carefree season of travel, unbroken health, and endless, relaxing afternoons.

Instead, you are looking around at your daily routine, and it feels like a harsh bait-and-switch. Your reality might be managing doctor appointments, navigating tight fixed incomes, or simply dealing with a quiet, repetitive daily existence. The gap between the vibrant life you imagined and the stark reality of your living room is causing a deep, haunting sadness. You feel cheated by the universe, mourning an imaginary future that never actually showed up.

To heal this specific, lingering heartbreak, we must look to the Madhupindika Sutta (MN 18). In this text, the Buddha diagnosed a deeply ingrained habit of the human mind, offering a practical way out of this trap.

🕸️ The Trap of the Phantom World

The Buddha described a mental mechanism known as Papanca, which translates to the obsessive expansion of thoughts, or "conceptual proliferation."

He observed that the human mind rarely just experiences the present moment. Instead, it builds elaborate, detailed fantasy worlds. For decades, your mind constructed a towering, perfect vision of what your later years were supposed to look like. You furnished that mental house and attached all your hopes for happiness to it.

The instruction here is clarifying and direct: your current sadness is not entirely caused by your physical circumstances. You are hurting because you are forcing your real, everyday life to constantly compete against a ghost. You are measuring your breathing, actual existence against a phantom reality that only ever existed in your imagination.

🛠️ The Practice of True Arrival

The Buddhist path does not ask you to pretend that aging is a joyride, nor does it preach passive acceptance of misery. It asks you to stop punishing yourself for a fantasy you didn't get. Here is the exact, step-by-step method to pull yourself out of the disappointment starting today:

1. Formally Burn the Script (Dassana): Acknowledge that the flawless, carefree retirement is largely a marketing myth designed to sell magazines and vacations. Give yourself one final, honest afternoon to grieve the specific dreams that didn't materialize. Cry over them if you must. Then, mentally close that book forever. You cannot move forward while looking backward.

2. Stop Arguing with Reality (Samma Vayama): The heaviest drain on your daily energy is the persistent thought, "It wasn't supposed to be this way." Whenever that thought arises, actively correct it. Tell yourself, "This is exactly how it is today." Peace arrives the very second you drop the demand for the universe to rewrite your history and start working with the actual materials you hold in your hands.

3. Anchor in the Small and Actual (Sati): Shift your attention away from the grand experiences you are missing, and train your eyes on the steady comforts you possess right now. A warm cup of coffee, a comfortable chair, the sound of rain against the glass, or a functioning appliance. These are not second-place consolations; they are the genuine substance of a lived life. Stop waiting for the grand finale, and learn to inhabit your actual home.

Buddha wisdom for all the over givers, parents trying so hard they neglect themselves, people working themselves to the ground for organisations who don't care enough to support them, everyone who believes in unselfishness at all costs .... ❤️❤️

For the soul devastated by the realization they spent a lifetime entirely abandoning themselves: see the Buddha's wisdom. ✨

It is a quiet, deeply heartbreaking truth that often only reveals itself in the later decades of life.

You look back over the years and see a clear, undeniable pattern. You made absolutely sure everyone else was comforted, protected, and supported. You offered endless grace to friends who made terrible mistakes, and you were quick to forgive the people who failed you.

But there is one person you have been ruthlessly, consistently harsh to: yourself.

When you look in the mirror, your inner voice is relentlessly critical of your aging reflection. You push your physical limits long past the point of exhaustion, ignoring your own pain. You place your own joy and peace at the absolute bottom of the priority list. The devastating reality sets in: you have spent half a century being the ultimate caretaker for the world, but you have lived your entire life as your own worst enemy.

The Buddha addressed this tragic imbalance between outward service and inward cruelty. In the Mallika Sutta (Ud 5.1), he offered a profound teaching that completely shatters the societal myth that total self-neglect is a virtue.

👑 The Royal Question

The text describes an intimate moment in the royal palace between King Pasenadi and his wife, Queen Mallika. The King, seeking validation and expecting flattery, asked her: "Is there anyone in this world more precious to you than yourself?"

Queen Mallika was a woman of exceptional spiritual clarity. Instead of feeding his ego, she gave a completely honest, unapologetic answer: "No, great king. There is no one dearer to me than myself." When the King later visited the Buddha and reported this conversation, he likely expected the Buddha to condemn the Queen for being arrogant or selfish.

⚖️ The Mechanics of True Compassion

Instead, the Buddha completely validated her. He declared a fundamental, unshakable truth of the Dhamma:
"Having traversed all directions with the mind, one finds no one anywhere dearer than oneself."

Society often conditions us to believe that true goodness requires total self-obliteration. We are taught that to be a "good" person, we must grind our own needs into dust to serve others. But the Buddha taught that this is a dangerous misunderstanding of Metta (loving-kindness).

If your compassion is vast enough to cover the entire globe, but it entirely excludes you, it is broken. It is structurally defective. You cannot pour pure water from a vessel that you are actively poisoning with self-hatred.

🕊️ Turning the Warmth Inward

Your lifelong habit of self-abandonment is not a badge of honor; it is a spiritual wound that desperately needs attention.

You have spent sixty years holding up the sky for everyone else. It is time to bring that immense, beautiful, nurturing energy home. The Buddha explicitly taught that because you are your own closest companion through the cycle of existence, your highest duty is to protect your own well-being.

Stop speaking to yourself with such cruel severity. Look at the heavy lifting you have survived over this lifetime. Today, make a deliberate choice to extend the exact same radical grace, patience, and gentle forgiveness to yourself that you have so freely handed out to the rest of the world. Become your own closest ally.

Thriving in the fire of 2026 🤩 The firey energies of 2026 are exciting - but can easily create havoc i(as can be seen all around us!)

Firey energy is everywhere, from the arrival of the Fire Horse to multiple planets in Aries (with the sun soon to join them.) To add fuel to the fire we have the Lunar Eclipse and Mercury retrograde. It is a lot! 2026 is all about the push - but (!!!) not about wildly galloping in any old direction. This year, without thought and clear intention, life may well become a little more wild than we wanted!

With all this pushy energy it is easy to loose touch with the introspective qualities that are needed to balance this year. The Fire Horse is the culmination of the yang elements so looking inward (yin) is essential to balance it. Aries is all about 'I am' so again looking inward is essential to see beyond our reactivity. Lunar eclipses and Mercury retrograde? Yup, Looking inward to the past to what may need to change in the future.

In my recent newsletter I suggested some journal starters for these times, these are simple, but effective, questions to ask yourself in these wild times :

👉 Where am I galloping unnecessarily?

👉 Where could I move with more intentionally?

👉 And what actually matters this year? When I look back in January 2027 at the last 12 months what will I want to see and importantly what action do I need to take to navigate in that direction?

If you’d like support navigating your own Fire Horse year, I’m back in Brisbane this Friday, a couple of times are still available. See you if the time is right! https://gaylandeta.com.au/book-online

So - the Virgo Full Moon Eclipse is upon us.. If it is clear we can even see it tonight. So, what has been clamouring to be let go? It is a time for twists and turns - but take time with any revelations as we are in Mercury Retrograde and will be till March 20th. Mercury Retrograde always takes us into the past and it is never a good time to decide anything, sign any contracts, buy electrical goods, etc etc. Just take note of what arises and then allow a couple of weeks for clarity. This huge time of transformation will particularly affect Virgo, Pisces and Sagittarius (or those who have those aspects strongly in their chart.) How?

Virgo - with being in the first house, it is the aspect of the self that is being challenged. The Virgo full moon always offers the opportunity to notice and let go of anything that has arisen in the last 6 months (since your birthday). This Lunar Eclipse just supercharges that! But (and especially with Mercury Retrograde) take plenty of time to rest and reflect before moving forward.

Pisces - the Virgo moon is in opposition, affecting your seventh house of relationships. So relationships are being challenged - romantic, long term, business, all types of relationships. But again, with Mercury Retrograde, take time for clarity before charging ahead.

Sagittarius - this moon is in your 10th house of destiny and career so your work might throw you a few curlies. Again, Mercury Retrograde, wait for clarity.

My Story

As a practitioner I love to help people who are fed up with struggling to create the life they really want to live - and as a business mentor I am passionate about helping other practitioners, therapists and heart centred consultants create a business they love to own.

Poet Mary Oliver poses my favourite question beautifully “What do you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”

I believe that we are here to explore and play with possibility and grow into our best possible self. Life is too short to spend time struggling with the fears, old patterns, beliefs and mis-information that can stop us in our tracks, even when we know we can be more.

I help my clients break-through and clear what’s stopping them so instead of struggling they can lean into their life and love it!
