Karinya Farm - Vic

Karinya Farm - Vic Beyond equine therapy, we provide a comprehensive farm experience with a wide range of farm animals.

Karinya Farm provides a calm and safe environment for clients of all ages. Combining equine and animal assisted therapy in a peaceful farm environment offering the perfect setting for clients to be therapeutically supported for healing, growth and achieving personal goals. Horses are majestic, intelligent, sensitive and strong beings who can foster a meaningful connection with clients and assist in the learning process. Horses and animals can assist in co-regulating the nervous system, can model expression of feelings, as well as offering a safe connection to allow clients to have an awareness of their emotions and thoughts. Horses and animals brought into our sessions can offer a unique empowerment to healing and help support clients in a way traditional therapy environments cannot. The calm & tranquil farm environment can also contribute positively to therapeutic outcomes for clients, be it collecting eggs from the hen house, sitting by the dam with fishing rod in hand or just being in the moment with one of our many beautifully natured therapy animals big & small. At Karinya Farm animal-assisted therapy our model is to deliver a client centred strength based approach to assist clients to reach their personal goals. We aim to build capacity for clients, assisting with developing social and emotional functioning. We offer an unique experience where each client is able to build a trusting relationship to promote the steps of change and growth.

Digital Tech & Teens: everyday tips for balance

Too much scrolling can leave teens anxious, wired and disconnected. Try these simple habits at home:
• PAUSE check before opening an app: Purpose • Affect • Use (time) • Switch • Evaluate
• 1–1–1 rule: 1 breath, 1 intention, 1 time limit
• Notification hygiene: mute non-essential alerts; move high-dopamine apps off the home screen
• Feed clean-up: unfollow accounts that spike anxiety; add 3 that educate or uplift
• Boundary scripts: “I’m logging off now,” “Please don’t share that,” “Let’s take this tomorrow”
• SOS online: pause → screenshot if needed → block/report → tell a trusted adult
• Green hour daily: at least 60 minutes outside or moving your body
• Bedtime landing pattern: lights low → stretch → read/doodle → sleep (no phones 1 hour before)
Parent prompts (10 mins weekly):
“What online thing felt good?” “What didn’t?” “One small change for this week?”
Watch-fors: big sleep swings, secrecy, dropping offline hobbies, mood crash after scrolling.
Start small: pick one habit today and build from there. Save/share if helpful. 🌿📵

Navigating disconnection isn’t just about screens it’s about lost connection with friends, family and nature. When those bonds thin, anxiety, low mood and poor sleep often rise. Prioritise small daily touchpoints: a device-free meal, a quick check-in text, a walk outside together. Nature time is a proven reset and so is grounding “I do grounding to help me just stop, breathe and be often with a cat by my side and a frenchie on my belly.” Try a slow breath, notice what you can see/hear/feel and let your nervous system settle. Little moments of real connection protect teen mental health. 🌿

🌾🐐 Karinya Farm: Where the Animals Aren’t the Only Ones Horsing Around! 🐴🌾
Life on the farm is busy – feeding animals, supporting our amazing participants, keeping things ticking over. But when there’s a rare moment of down time, we do what any self-respecting farm family does… we get a little silly! So yes, we take our work seriously – but never ourselves. 🐓💚

🐐✨ Exciting News at Karinya Farm! ✨🐐
We’re welcoming Miniature Pygmy Goats to the farm! 🎉 These little cuties are not only going to bring plenty of smiles and laughs, but they’ll also play an important role in supporting the wellbeing of our participants.
💡 Why goats?
Miniature goats are gentle, social animals that love interacting with people. For our participants, spending time with them can:
🌿 Encourage calmness and emotional regulation
🌿 Build confidence through hands-on care and responsibility
🌿 Support social skills and teamwork as participants work together to feed, groom and look after them
🌿 Provide lots of sensory engagement – soft fur, gentle sounds, playful movements
🌿 Boost joy, laughter and connection in a natural, non-clinical setting
At Karinya Farm, we’re always looking for creative ways to help participants meet their NDIS goals while having fun. Our new goat family will be a big part of that – bringing happiness, comfort, and plenty of cheeky adventures! 🐐💚

🌿 Karinya Farm – Counselling in a Different Way 🌿
Karinya Farm isn’t an open farm it’s a private, safe sanctuary where participants can work on their NDIS goals outside a clinical setting. Through counselling, nature and hands-on farm life, we help build emotional regulation, resilience and social skills in a way that feels natural and supportive.
Parents and guardians are often surprised by how quickly participants thrive here. And for young people without NDIS, we also offer youth mentorship programs.
✨ With two new staff members on board, we now have spaces available!
📞 Call today to secure your meet and greet just to see first hand how counselling at Karinya can make a difference.

🌿🐴 A Place to Just… Breathe 🐑🌿
School, friends, social media sometimes it all gets too much.
Maybe people have been unkind. Maybe you feel like no one really “gets” you. Or maybe you just want somewhere you can relax without pressure.

That’s where Karinya Farm comes in.

Here, you can:
🐴 Hang out with friendly animals (they’ve grown up here, so they’re super chill)
💬 Talk to someone who listens — no judgment, no lectures
🌳 Spend time outside in a peaceful space
👋 Choose if you want to join semi-group activities… or just keep to yourself until you feel ready
🌟 Build confidence at your own pace, not anyone else’s

It’s not school. It’s not therapy in a boring office.
It’s a place where you can just be you and maybe discover new parts of yourself along the way.

You don’t have to talk about everything right away sometimes just being here is the first step.

DM us if you want to come check it out you might be surprised how good it feels to breathe.
