Most of us don’t realise how modern life can overwhelm the body’s natural detox systems - from the food we eat 🥘 to the skincare on our shelves, the cleaning sprays in our cupboards, and the stress we carry 🤯
Our bodies are built to detoxify, but when the load is too high ⬆️ those systems get bogged down - and we notice it as fatigue, bloating, brain fog, skin issues, mood swings and low energy 🥱
Here are 3 simple, effective ways to support your body this Spring: 🌱
1️⃣ Reduce your toxic load ☠️
Look at what you bring into your home and onto your body. Swap harsh skincare and toxic cleaning products for natural options. Choose whole foods over ultra-processed items. Consider a good water filter - it’s a small change that reduces your daily chemical exposure and supports every detox pathway
2️⃣ Increase your fibre 🥦
Fibre is one of the body’s most reliable cleansing tools. It binds and helps remove metabolic by-products and toxins, supports healthy bowel movements, and feeds the gut bacteria that produce short-chain fatty acids (which support the gut lining and detox pathways). Add more greens, beans, seeds, whole grains and sprouts - small shifts here make a big difference
3️⃣ Moderate your caffeine ☕️
Caffeine spikes cortisol and can load the liver if consumed in excess. It’s also a diuretic (so it can affect hydration) and can disrupt sleep 😴 - both of which impair detox. Try to have coffee after food and no later than 11am, and consider herbal teas 🍵 (like dandelion, lemon balm or nettle) as nourishing alternatives that support gentle cleansing
