Good afternoon and a very happy holidays to you all!!!
Today we decided to post a few facts about how ARTA NT interacts with the NDIS.
What is ARTA NT?
ARTA NT is a afterschool recreation club for young adults aged 12 to 18 with Autism and other disabilities. We are NOT a childcare and instead focus on providing a safe environment for young people with disabilities.
The company aims to allow young adults with disabilities the ability to participate in the community like other neurotypical people their age. A neurotypical individual 12 to 18 years of age would be able to undertake activities in the community on their own, our customers cannot do so due to their unique circumstances and ARTA NT works to assist them in participating in these activities.
Is ARTA NT registered for NDIS services?
No, we are not registered for NDIS services. While some of our customers may be NDIS participants, this is not a requirement to access our services.
Can I use my NDIS funds to pay for ARTA NT invoices?
This will depend on your unique circumstances, if you have Core funding available, you may be able to utilise that funding to pay for ARTA NT invoices if your plan is self-managed or plan managed. The information contained on this page could be used as evidence to support an increase in Core funding, individual reports on progress towards goals will also be available.
Why would ARTA NT services be considered Reasonable and Necessary?
Reasonable and necessary describes the criteria set out in section 34 of the National Disability Insurance Scheme Act 2013 (NDIS Act).
• ARTA NT provides services that enable participants to engage in the community amongst their peers.
• There are no alternative programs currently offering these services to this demographic for the time slots available, the current option for teenagers in similar situations is to engage 1:1 support in the community costing up to $62.17 per hour.
• ARTA NT will be engaging in skill building activities including but not limited to; Cooking, gardening, community participation, time management and money management.
• The services we provide are for teens with disabilities that are unable to participate in the community like how neurotypical teens are able to do independently.
• We are not associated with any Government services or supports offered by a person, agency or body, or systems of service delivery or support services offered as part of a universal service obligation; or in accordance with reasonable adjustments required under a law dealing with discrimination on the basis of disability.
