With all the rain, cooler weather and limited supplies around at the moment...this is the perfect option for a family dinner! 🫘🥫

This is one of my mum’s recipes she used to make for me as a child….nothing better than a big pot of soup on the pot belly stove when I came home from school for dinner!

Most of the ingredients are probably already in your cupboard or ‘cyclone box’??! Hubby loves it…so I think we might enjoy this during the “Dry”!!

Ingredients:

1 can Tomato soup

1 can diced Tomatoes

1 can Red Kidney beans

2-3 sticks celery, chopped

1 onion, diced

2-3 cloves of garlic

1C pasta of choice (Buckwheat is naturally gluten free, or try pulse/rice pasta)

1Tblsp butter

2 tsp Vegeta stock powder

6C water (you could use prepack stock instead)

Method:

Into large saucepan melt butter, then cook onion, garlic, & celery till tender.

Add in soup, tomatoes, beans & water with stock into saucepan.

Cook on stove for 30mins, then add in pasta & cook till pasta is tender.

You can also add bacon or any other veggies at step one if you wish?!  😉

Here's another great, nutritious and budget friendly family favourite meal... perfect for you right now.

Community Announcement 📣
With all this rain about, have you noticed mould creeping in??

Heads up...this is what I found, there's Clove Oil available at Durack Chemist Warehouse...but get in quick, I tried 3 other pharmacies with no joy!

Natural Mould Removal with Clove Oil 🌿

Clove oil is often used to manage mould because it targets and kills mould spores, rather than simply bleaching the surface. When cleaning mould, it’s best to avoid spray bottles as they can disperse spores into the air. Instead, use buckets and microfibre cloths to safely contain the process...plus wear a mask and gloves.

Step 1: Safety first
Clove oil is very potent.
• Avoid direct skin contact
• Wear gloves if possible
• Keep away from children
• Always test on a small area first

Step 2: Prepare your cleaning mix
In a bucket, combine:
• 4L of hot/warm water
• 1 tablespoon bicarb soda
• 1L white vinegar

Using a microfibre cloth, gently wipe the affected area to remove surface mould and debris.

Step 3: Prepare the clove oil solution
In a separate bucket mix:
• 1L water
• 1/4 teaspoon clove oil (~25 drops)

Do not increase the concentration — stronger mixes won’t work better and may damage surfaces.

Step 4: Apply with a cloth
Dip a clean microfibre cloth into the clove oil solution and wipe over the mouldy area lightly.
Allow the surface to remain undisturbed for 24 hours so the clove oil can work to kill the mould spores.

Step 5: Remove dead spores
After 24 hours, wipe the area using a cloth dipped into a 4:1 mix of water and white vinegar.
This helps remove the dead spores and can also kill any remaining mould.

Step 6: Prevent cross-contamination
When cleaning, rinse cloths carefully:
• First bucket: 50:50 vinegar and water
• Second bucket: clean water

Alternatively, discard cloths after use to prevent spreading spores.

Step 7: Address the root cause
Removing mould is only part of the solution. It’s important to investigate the underlying moisture source such as:
• Poor ventilation
• Condensation
• Plumbing or roof leaks
• Drainage issues
• Flooding or high humidity

Supporting a healthy home environment is an important step in protecting overall wellbeing.
