Two thirds through our IRB Crew and Driver course weekend.

Kerryn, Gavin and Liam, assisted by content expert Tyler, have been putting participants through their paces. Favourable conditions, plenty of new skills learned, and even a simulated rollover to keep things interesting.

Good luck to everyone heading into assessment weekend. You have got this!

Pambula Beach to the top of the world. Olympic gold. Let that sink in. Unbelievably proud, Cooper!

// It’s official. A public holiday has been declared today in Pambula on the Far South Coast after Cooper Woods, ex Pambula SLSC nipper, became our newest Olympic Gold Medallist last night! Club Captain Andrew Holt said the small town was stoked.

“Coop was always very talented and full of cheek. Everything was a race. There was only one speed for him and that was flat out.”

With both parents having been surfboat rowers, this skiing superstar was bound to be a serious competitor.

“The determination of that kid,” recalls Andrew, “if anyone was gonna win a gold medal at the Olympics, it was gonna be Cooper.

“We’re just so proud of him, it’s an inspiration for all the other young kids around here. Kid from a country club, comes home with a gold medal, that doesn’t happen very often.”

About The Film

Chasing The Gold follows some of the biggest names in surf life saving as they tackle the 40th anniversary of the iconic 41.8km Coolangatta Gold — a legendary test of endurance, resilience and heart.

The documentary features:
• Ali Day – the greatest ironman of all time, pushing for his historic tenth title.
• Conner Maggs – the fearless young gun determined to dethrone on a champion.
• Lana Rogers – the reigning women’s champion, battling rivals and her own doubts in pursuit of a third crown.

Ali Day says: “I hope the film encourages the next generation to get out in the surf, have a crack, and never give up on their dreams.”

Lana Rogers says: “I’m excited for this movie to come out, to not only show the work we put in as athletes and the work our coaches put in, but to showcase how special the race is.”

The Coolangatta Gold began in 1984 as a fictional race scripted for a romantic feature film. But what started on screen became reality—transforming into one of the toughest tests of grit, endurance, and spirit in Australian sport.

Why This Event Matters

By coming along, you’re not only watching an incredible Australian story — you’re supporting our club.

Funds raised from this screening will help us:
• Strengthen surf life saving programs
• Support training and equipment
• Continue keeping our beaches safe
• Invest in youth development and community initiatives
• Inspire Nippers and members to get involved!

Your ticket directly contributes to the future of surf life saving.
