I think a silent sob might just creep out of my throat. 🥹🤎
So so honoured to be named on the
NSW Minister for Women ~ Rural Women’s Hidden Treasures Honour Roll for rural contribution.
I don’t know if I’m ’one of the most highly regarded trauma psychologists in Australia’ but I’m so honoured.
I work hard in two professional roles, but the best time I can spend to balance that, is volunteering hundreds of hours to support rural health and growth - what a privilege 🍂
The nomination was for significant volunteer contribution to:
- The absolutely horrendous & critical volunteer trauma psych response to Eugowra floods
- Rural mental health advisory via NSW Health board
- National Charity Board Director for mental health outcomes for mums (primarily rural) - The Nurtured Village.
- Providing free advice and referrals to psychologists, OTs, speechies, health practitioners and other specialists for rural kids, adults and families in our region every year.
- the work with The Compassionate Friends for grief and loss in rural areas

Gosh, I was extremely flawed when I read the beautiful nomination and reflected on the work, because it’s just done without thinking too much about it.
And it’s not work to me, it’s so much more.
I cannot affect change in rural areas alone ~ there’s so so many others as well 🙏🏼 ~ but I can always give back in some way by volunteering many hours trying to improve rural living ~ one person, one family, one trauma, one strategy or one contribution at a time - and gosh we need it, it’s so hard for us rural folk to get high quality professional help 🤎
People often say - where do you get the time? My response is always - everyone has the same 24 hours in every day, I just have the privilege of being able to use my quals and experience to help others when they need it most, and to give back - that is the mission.
… and like all volunteers I get just as much back myself ✨
Thankyou & my beautiful family for everything x
