CWHC - Cumberland Women's Health Centre A non-profit community based organisation providing women's health and DV response services These areas still remain the focus of the Centre today

Cumberland Women’s Health Centre (CWHC) is a non-profit community based organisation which was established 26 years ago to provide women’s health services and domestic violence specialist response services to women in the Parramatta, Holroyd, Auburn and Hills area. When the Centre first started in the early 90’s focus was placed upon providing services surrounding anti-violence towards women (particularly domestic violence), support for new and emerging groups within the community and activities for the elderly. The Centre recognised these areas as ones where there were gaps in service provision, especially with the provision of crisis assistance in the 4 Cumberland regions.

Today 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence starts (November 25th to December 10th) πŸ’œπŸ’›

This years campaign is 'Unite to End Digital Violence Against Women and Girls'. Now more than ever, digital violence is becoming one of the most prevalent forms of abuse against women. Digital violence varies, but will often include harmful actions such as hate speech, coercive control, harassment, cyberstalking, image-based abuse, impersonation and other forms of online abuse.

With technology becoming more accessible and advanced, digital violence is evolving.

This 16 Days of Activism we will continue to advocate for the safety, equality and rights for women and girls.

Will you unite with us to end violence against all women and girls? πŸ’›πŸ’œ

Today is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, which also marks the beginning of 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence.

In Australia 1 in 4 Women have experienced violence by an intimate partner since the age of 15. Women are also more likely to experience physical and/or sexual violence since the age of 15 by a known person than a stranger. (Source: Personal Safety Australia ABS 2023).

Violence against women and girls undoubtedly remains one of the most widespread human rights violation worldwide.

The time for change is now. The time to act is now. The time to end violence against women is now.
