CWHC - Cumberland Women's Health Centre

CWHC - Cumberland Women's Health Centre A non-profit community based organisation providing women's health and DV response services These areas still remain the focus of the Centre today

Cumberland Women’s Health Centre (CWHC) is a non-profit community based organisation which was established 26 years ago to provide women’s health services and domestic violence specialist response services to women in the Parramatta, Holroyd, Auburn and Hills area. When the Centre first started in the early 90’s focus was placed upon providing services surrounding anti-violence towards women (part

icularly domestic violence), support for new and emerging groups within the community and activities for the elderly. The Centre recognised these areas as ones where there were gaps in service provision, especially with the provision of crisis assistance in the 4 Cumberland regions.

Term 1 Highlights! πŸ“Έ

Our Womens Health Group and New Beginnings Groups had a great time in Term 1! With therapeutic art, educational talks and sharing food and conversation, attendees got to improve their wellbeing in a supportive, welcoming environment.

We were also busy out and about! Attending events gives us great opportunities to talk to and connect with other service providers and organisations so we can work to better support our communities.

The Safe Wheels program saw great success! Three attendees achieved their P Plates with the aid of the program. With their furthered independence, two have now gained employment, reflecting how important skills like driving are to personal success and wellbeing.

World Heritage Day, also known as International Day for Monuments and Sites, celebrates the preservation of material cultures worldwide! πŸ’œπŸ’›

By preserving, protecting and safeguarding these sites and monuments, we can celebrate "Living Heritage". This year's theme is 'Emergency Response for Living Heritage in Contexts of Conflicts and Disasters', emphasising the importance of proper government response to disasters, both natural and manmade.

Telopea Community Fest! πŸ’œπŸ’›

Sophie and Alaa hosted our stall at this years Telopea Community Fest! It was a great opportunity to engage with the families and children in our communities and to spread awareness about the Centre through our newsletters and brochures.

We got some great responses from festival-goers on how they would cheer up the Easter Bunny if he was sad, opening people up for meaningful conversations about how to access support for themselves and others.
