Expressions of Interest – Your Outdoor Adventure Awaits!

We’re exploring an exciting new inclusive outdoor adventure opportunity for our community and we’d love to know who’s interested!

In partnership with Blue Mountains Climbing School, this Accessible Adventure will be a 3–4 hour guided experience, designed to support people of all abilities to get outdoors, try something new, and build confidence in a safe and supportive environment. There’s also the potential for a social catch-up afterwards to relax and connect with others.

Whether you’re local or happy to travel in, we’d love to hear from you!

To express your interest, email partnerships@downsyndromensw.org.au

We were sincerely grateful to the Gregorius Trust, recognised as a Silver Champion for Change at this year's Donor and Supporter Event held at Government House.

Their generous support of the Congratulations Initiative has helped us provide early, compassionate support to families following a diagnosis of Down syndrome.

Thank you for making a meaningful difference from the very beginning.

This National Volunteer Week, we extended our heartfelt thanks to all the incredible community and corporate volunteers who dedicate their time, kindness, and passion to the Down Syndrome NSW community.

Our volunteers are a significant part of our community. Through their generosity, diverse experiences, and commitment, they help create meaningful connections, provide social support, and strengthen opportunities for people with Down syndrome and their families across NSW.

The 2026 National Volunteer Week theme, “Your Year to Volunteer”, is a reminder that volunteering is more than giving your time, it’s about creating impact, building community, and enriching lives, including your own. The benefits of volunteering extend far beyond yourself, fostering belonging, connection, and positive change for everyone involved.

We welcome you to volunteer with this year and become part of a supportive and passionate community.

If you are interested in community volunteer work with Down Syndrome NSW, please email your interest to volunteer@downsyndromensw.org.au.

If your organisation is interested in corporate volunteering for Down Syndrome NSW, please email partnerships@downsyndromensw.org.au.

“The support we received from Down Syndrome NSW in Coco’s early years shaped not only her development, but the strength and confidence of our entire family.” 💙

For many families, the early years can feel overwhelming and uncertain. Access to support, connection, and trusted guidance during this time can make a lifelong difference.

This end of tax time, your donation helps more families like Coco’s access advocacy, education, community connection, and early intervention support when they need it most.

As Coco’s family shared:
“They were our reassurance, our guidance, and a source of hope.”

We continue to advocate for people with down syndrome and their families in NSW, and alongside Down syndrome organisations across the country to ensure better outcomes for people with Down syndrome.

We know many people in our community are worried about the proposed NDIS changes and what they could mean for people with disability and families. We share those concerns.

Following more detail about the NDIS Bill introduced to Parliament last week, the DSA Consortium has now shared our initial thoughts on the proposed changes.

We outline some of the key areas we are concerned about and will be opposing in our submission to the Senate Committee, including:

• proposed cuts to social and community participation supports
• possible caps on supports
• changes that could place more responsibility on families

The toddler years are some of the most important years in a child’s development 💙

For children with Down syndrome, early intervention can help build the foundations for communication, confidence, learning, and independence, while also supporting families through the journey ahead.

Your end of tax time donation can help more families across NSW access advocacy, resources, education, and connection when they need it most.
