Northcott has always been a registered Supported Independent Living (SIL) provider, meeting the highest NDIS quality and safeguarding standards. With new rules coming into effect that will require all SIL providers to be registered, we welcome this change and the stronger protections it brings for people with disability.

Just two blokes cooking up a barbeque on a Friday afternoon 😀

But sometimes these small moments are actually big moments.

Alvis and Warren met several years ago after both attending the Life Skills program in Coffs Harbour and have become good mates since.

Some of Alvis's favourite moments are spent with the friends he has made at Northcott.

29 per cent people with disability say they often feel lonely, compared with 17 per cent without disability, so having opportunities to connect with other people is very important. Every person has the right to feel welcome and valued, to be invited to join in, and to be safe from stigma.

Northcott’s Life Skills program is not only about learning to do new things. It’s also a wonderful way for customers to meet like-minded people and create lasting friendships with others who have similar interests.

A huge shout out to our Life Skills Customer Committee from Ballina, who recently organised a raffle and raised over $800! What an incredible effort! 👏

This is a fantastic example of customer led initiative, teamwork and meaningful community connection. The group will now be coming together to plan a community event, with more details to be shared soon. They’re still in the early planning stages, so stay tuned!

Happy 60th birthday Colin! 🥳

Since moving into a Northcott home last year, Colin has built a wonderful community around him, and this milestone birthday was a perfect reflection of that.

The celebrations didn't stop there though and were shared far and wide. Colin also had parties at his day program and with family who gathered to enjoy a lovely celebration meal.

With new and longtime friends, dedicated staff and family by his side, Colin’s 60th birthday was a joyful celebration filled with connection and more than a few delicious cakes. 🎂

💙 Today is World Autism Awareness Day 💙

Last weekend, our local team had the pleasure of being part of the Wagga Autism Superhero Picnic, proudly organised by the Wagga Autism Support Group. What an amazing day it was!

The picnic was full of fun, with games, face painting, balloons, lawn games, a sausage sizzle and even visits from the Fire Brigade and SES. An appearance from Batman was a huge hit with the kids!

At the Northcott stall, our make‑your‑own superhero mask arts and crafts activity was a crowd favourite, with kids and adults getting creative throughout the day. Our superhero merch bags also flew off the table!

We were particularly pleased to welcome lots of customers from local Northcott houses to join in the celebrations and enjoy the community atmosphere.

It was also a great opportunity to connect, share information about our programs, and celebrate inclusion, creativity, and community.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, joined in, and helped make the day so special. 💙
