We’re moving…🚚📦🚚📦

First of all Merry Christmas 🤶🧑‍🎄🎄🎅🏻

We hope this message finds you well. We have important news to share regarding The Osteopathy Clinic.

As of 2nd January 2024 the clinic will be relocating to:

Suite 1, Level 1, 111 Phillip Street, Parramatta.

The new location is across the road from the Parramatta ferry wharf, and is approximately seven buildings down Phillip Street from the current clinic.

For those driving, parking options include:
- Street parking along Charles or Phillip Street
- Eat Street Carpark (5 minute walk)
- Wilson Carpark, at 31-33 Charles Street (next door to our new location). This carpark is officially called 150 George Street Carpark, but it’s entry is on Charles Street.
- Westfield Parramatta carpark (15 minute walk)

Additionally, Izabela will be assuming the care of all our patients. Unfortunately one of our osteopaths, Stuart, has encountered unexpected health challenges, prompting his need for an early retirement from osteopathy.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this relocation, please do not hesitate to contact us. Our phone number, email address, online bookings and website will remain the same to facilitate a smooth transition for all appointments and inquiries:

By focusing on the whole person, an osteopath may treat many parts of your body, not just the part that feels sore. For example, if you go to an osteopath with a sore back, your osteo will often treat the neck, shoulders, back and legs because everything is connected, and these areas can influence and impact your back pain.

Osteos will also talk to you about the activities that may increase your pain, your lifestyle, how you feel, and will consider all these factors to develop a treatment plan for you and to help you to understand your role in getting better. Their aim is to get you back to doing the things you love

Happy New Year!!

We hope you’re enjoying your Christmas and New Year’s break.

The clinic opens again on Monday 9th January to help you start 2023 in the best shape possible.

Osteopaths manage many spinal conditions but that's not all. They are trained to manage a huge range of conditions affecting the whole body.

Your osteopath considers how different parts of your body interact with each other. This may mean, for example, evaluating whether your spinal pain or discomfort is being triggered by your joints, muscles, ligaments, bones or a connection that points to multiple causes.

Experiencing pain or discomfort somewhere in the upper back is very common. It affects people of all age ranges and genders but is common in children/adolescents and more common in females than males.

Your osteo might:

👉 Work on joint mobility
👉 Work on muscular tension, inflammation and nerve irritation
👉 Investigate blood supply and drainage to and from the spine and pelvis
👉 Provide advice on your ergonomic environment – e.g. your computer workstation
👉 Provide guidance on diet, hydration and exercise

Most of the time upper back pain is not serious. Your osteopath will listen to you about your pain and put you at the centre of your management plan.

The muscles in and around the chest help with movement of the upper body, arms and neck, but also with vital functions like breathing.

In such a complex area, it is very common for people to experience pain or discomfort in these bones, joints and tissues, for a variety of reasons.

Osteos are trained to manage a broad range of conditions affecting your chest including:

➡️ Problems with the muscles and other structures in and around the ribcage, such as rib sprain.

➡️ Muscle and joint pain relief for people with breathing conditions, or those recovering from respiratory illnesses.

Low back pain is often caused by a simple strain of muscles or joints, in the back, usually at a time when we are more vulnerable – for example, when we are run down, tired, stressed, tense, sad, inactive or overactive. Our increasingly sedentary lifestyle can also lead to poor posture and musculoskeletal problems, which may result in low back pain.

Common lower back conditions are:
➡️ Arthritis
➡️ Sciatica
➡️ Scoliosis
➡️ Muscle spasms
➡️ Osteoporosis
➡️ Muscle strains and tears
➡️ Disc problems

Your osteo will provide information and advice about your lifestyle and daily activities. This may help you identify activities that may prevent or help manage pain, especially if certain movements or activities worsen the pain. You may be given exercises to do at home.

If you are unsure about coming in, or if you have any concerns regarding your particular circumstances please get in contact with us so we discuss what might be the best option for you.

We hope you’ve been safe and well over the last few months and look forward to seeing you soon - but only if you need to 😉

Hi All,

First of all, thank you for your continued support of our clinic during the past 18 months.

As you no doubt would have heard by now, From 12.01am on Friday, 30 July 2021, residents of the eight Local Government Areas of concern (Blacktown, Campbelltown, Canterbury-Bankstown, Cumberland, Fairfield, Georges River, Liverpool and Parramatta) will be subject to new, stricter rules. These include staying within 5km of your home. We are currently waiting on confirmation whether this includes medical or health related appointments, and will update as soon as we know more.

If you are uncertain, you can go to
https://2kmfromhome.com/ to check you personal circumstance.

More information will be available at:
https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19

What this means for our patients is this:

NSW Health continues to recommend delaying treatment unless this will result in a deterioration of a person’s condition and / or health. To minimise the spread of this virus, we have been following this advice throughout this Lockdown period. If you are unsure whether you should book an appointment, please call or email the clinic to discuss your circumstances.

At this stage we will continue to call all patients 24-48 hrs prior to their appointment to determine if face-to-face treatment is still essential.

Mask up, follow the directions of NSW Health and the NSW Government, get yourself vaccinated, stay safe and well, get tested if you have the slightest symptoms and most importantly be kind to yourself during this tough time.

Stuart, Izabela and Sharon.

And that’s it for another year!

We will be closed over the Christmas and New Year’s break and re-open from 7th to 15th of January before taking another break until 27th January.

Thank you!

We’ve always felt privileged to be part of your health team, yet this year and it’s various challenges, have made us appreciate your choice to include us all the more. We asked you all to help us meet the increased infection control measures, and you were amazing. Your constant hand washes, your willingness to maintain social distancing and wearing of masks has meant we’ve been able to continue to practice throughout the year. Thank you!

This year has also been a learning experience for all of us. We’ve all seen the importance of human interaction, of family and friends, and of community.
Thank you for your contribution to this little clinic’s community.

So it was Champagne and takeaway pizza at home with our family last night to celebrate. The dinner choice seemed like a fitting way to end our working year! Once again we say thank you and hope you have an equally joyous end to your year!

Izabela, Sharon and Stuart.
