Ok it’s Sunday night….,

What I learnt today.

⭐️ Practice is better
🔘 Walk out the back of the circle & practice doing it
➰ You need to do the spin to get it going & practice doing it
➰ Spinning makes my legs hurt & makes me dizzy
🥅 Don’t throw it into the net
🥏🥏🥏🥏You only get 4 throws
🏃🏼‍♀️most Masters Athletics participants do ALL the events!
🏃🏼‍♀️Tall, skinny girls are better at it
👩🏼‍🎓Having a coach is advantageous, so is practice
🥏 it only takes 1 good throw to get a score on the board (& a PB)
😏 Athletics isn’t very interesting
😒The girls were not as friendly as Powerlifting girls or Dragonboat girls
🚗 South Australian men, in nice cars, are really good to get rides from, when your taxi is grabbed by someone else. 🙏🏻

But…. I competed today, I didn’t come last & I got a PB of 16.30 (simply bc I have never done it before)

I turned up, I tried something new, and I’m proud of that. It’s very tempting to do more of this sport. But I think I’ll stay in my lane (for now)

Another Masters Games….but this one is different. This time I’m stepping right out of my comfort zone and competing in 2 sports that I have never competed in before - discus & indoor rowing.
I am most scared of the discus. I haven’t competed in it since high school. I don’t know how the competition works, except that I have 6 throws. (6 try’s, 6 chances) I imagine all the other athletes will have competed before, no one is crazy enough to rock up to a comp, without any practice. (I watched some You Tubes today for a few extra tips) I’m not even sure what I should wear! (I’ll be sure to take a bag full of choices)
While I know about powerlifting & dragonboating, and a tiny bit about indoor rowing (well I’ve used the Erg at the gym anyway, and have a fairly good time for the 100m), I’m green & nervous about the discus. But I’m going to do it bc I want to learn & grow. If I like it, I might do it again!

Let’s revisit this post on Sunday night! (I’ll let you know how I go)
