Spring Equinox Dual Essence-African Daisy & Borage

Last year, I worked with African Daisy, a humble flower that taught me about resilience, joy, and the quiet strength to bloom again after seasons of neglect.

This year, as it self-seeded into the earth and thrived beyond its old pots, I felt called to deepen that relationship.

Doctrine of Signatures for African Daisy:

African Daisy carries the medicine of joy, renewal, and adaptability.

Its radiant sun like blooms open to the sunlight and close at night, reflecting alignment with natural rhythms and openness to life.

The colours of purple, yellow, and white speak of insight, energy, and clarity.

Its ability to self-seed and thrive beyond old containers reflects resilience, the capacity to flourish in unexpected places, and trust in natural cycles.

At the same time, Borage has been for some time. I tended to it, worked with it externally, and listened for its medicine.

As its star shaped blossoms opened leading up to Spring Equinox, I knew it was ready to be honoured and brought into essence form.

Doctrine of Signatures for Borage:

Borage offers courage, heart strength, and encouragement when the path feels uncertain.

Its star shaped blue flowers reflect guidance, hope, and bravery of the heart.

Its generous growth and ability to self-seed speak of abundance, offering support freely and uplifting the spirit when heaviness arises.

Borage aligns us with our inner courage and steadies the heart in times of challenge.

Together, these two flowers create a dual essence for the recent turning of the wheel.

Woven together, they carry the medicine of joyful courage, uplifting the spirit while steadying the heart, guiding us to bloom fully and thrive in our true ground.

Affirmations for this essence:

-I find strength to face life and bloom with resilience.

-I fill my heart with radiant, uplifting light.

-Courage and joy guide me to root deeply and rise.

An honouring of Spring Equinox, and a reminder that when we root deeply, we can bloom again with delight and strength.

✨🌿 Spring Equinox Blessing 🌿✨

Over the years, when I lived in the house next to mt clinic, I would often find nests tucked quietly in unexpected corners, little signs of life and continuity, each one a gentle reminder of nature’s cycles and the magic woven into our everyday spaces.

Last year, when I moved out, a bird chose to follow me into the courtyard of my clinic. Nests began appearing there too, as if life and possibility were moving with me, reminding me of the sacred connection between space, belonging, and new beginnings. When her nest was abandoned, I consciously kept it, holding it as a talisman of nest magick and the cycles of life.

And today, on the Spring Equinox, I stepped into the courtyard to find a new nest… carefully crafted, warm, and alive with possibility. Within it rests a single little blue egg, quietly pulsing with potential, held safely in protection and trust. 💙

The Equinox is a moment of harmony, light meeting dark, endings giving way to beginnings. A nest holds this energy perfectly: a vessel of hope and a reminder that life continuously invites us to create anew.

As we enter this new season, may we each find our own nest of possibility. May we feel held, nourished, and protected as we step into what is waiting to be born.

Today I close the chapter on my first Social Work placement at Brentwood Secondary College.

From mid April to mid September, throughout school Terms 2 and 3, working alongside the incredible Wellbeing team and other placement students.

It has been a season of perseverance. I navigated the chaos of life, juggled my three kids, continued to run my business, and learned the importance of asking for and receiving help when the overwhelm crept in.

I learned that growth does not happen in isolation. It happens in community, through guidance, feedback, and the courage to keep showing up even when life feels messy.

This program has been running for over 20 years, and I am humbled to be just one student, a leaf on a very wise and deeply rooted tree.

Grateful for the lessons, grateful for the blessings, and grateful for the chance to step into this profession with heart and resilience.

The first day of spring 🔆

Tiny bursts of colour are waking in the garden.

The very first blooms are appearing.

I love walking around the garden and witnessing nature awakening.

There’s something so magical about this turning of the seasons…

A gentle reminder that after every stillness, life returns, fresh and new.

Here’s to more light, more warmth, and more blossoms on the way.

Which new blooms and colours have you noticed?

I took quick snaps of the blooms in my family garden! 😍

Mullein (Verbascum thapsus) Essence

This essence was born in the deep stillness of Winter Solstice, guided by the gentle presence of a self-seeded first-year mullein rosette.

It descended from a seedling I grew 24 years ago for a herbal medicine assignment, still quietly rooted in the garden of my family home.

With soft, silvery-green leaves resting close to the earth, Mullein carries the signature of gentle strength, soothing comfort, and patient, quiet becoming.

Through the doctrine of signatures, Mullein reveals her teachings:

Her velvety, downy leaves soften the body and invite breath to flow freely, nurturing not only the lungs but the soul’s quiet spaces.

Her rosette form, low and steady, reflects the wisdom of stillness, rootedness, and the importance of trusting the right time to rise.

Her silvery hairs, cradling dew, speak to protection through softness - the strength found in gentleness and the safety of being held without being hurried.

Her roots, quietly reaching through the base of the pot into the earth below, remind us that when the time is right, we naturally seek deeper anchoring - growing beyond limitations with quiet persistence, sovereignty, and trust in our own unfolding.

This essence was created with the same rhythm Mullein embodies:
— Prepared outdoors beside the living rosette, with pure water resting gently on her soft leaves.
— Carried indoors to infuse in stillness on a single leaf until the time felt right.
— Preserved gently, then returned to the plant, honoring the cycle of breath, rest, and return.

Mullein offers her presence as:
— A balm for the breath and a support for the quiet unfolding of the soul
— A reminder that softness is strength, stillness is wisdom, and breath is life
— A guide for those seeking comfort, steadiness, and trust in their own inner timing

Affirmations:
Soft strength holds me.
Breath nurtures my soul.
I trust the timing within me.

This is my final plant essence created within the Wheel of Love container facilitated by the beautiful .bellcummings. A 12 month spiral of sacred ceremonies and earth teachings, birthed through the work of .

Deep gratitude to both mentors 🌹

Planting Bulbs of Timeless Possibility 🌷

These tulip bulbs have been waiting in the fridge since April…

quietly preparing,
resting in the dark,
holding the shape of something yet to come.

Now, as winter deepens,
they’re finally going into the soil.

Planted not just for beauty,
but for possibility.

A reminder that not everything needs to happen now.
Some things take time,
ask for stillness,
and begin long before they’re ever seen.

A quiet ritual of trust.
An invitation to remember that patience is part of the process
and what is meant to bloom
will do so in its own time,
when the conditions come into alignment.

When life moves too fast,
disconnection creeps in…

from ourselves,
from others,
from what matters.

We feel it in our bodies:
the tightness,
the tiredness,
the tug of too much.

But even overwhelm holds wisdom.

It shows us what we truly crave.
What we miss.
What matters most.

Pause to breathe.
Realign.
Exhale.

Let what’s essential rise to the surface.
