Our Story

Janine is a registered psychologist who works in private-practice at Gentle Rein Therapies, specialising in Equine Facilitated Neuropsychotherapy. Her study of neuropsychotherapy has inspired her to integrate psychotherapy, neuroscience and experiential equine facilitated psychotherapy.

In addition to a traditional approach to psychotherapy within an office environment, Janine incorporates the principles of neuroscience, cognitive behavioural therapy and experiential therapy. Janine offers Equine Facilitated Neuropsychotherapy in an outdoor setting with her horses and ponies facilitating sessions. Equine Facilitated Neuropsychotherapy & Equine Facilitated Learning (EFN & EFL) are experiential forms of therapy that include horses and ponies as co-facilitators. EFN utilises Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Skills Training in an Experiential Therapy context. The horses and ponies at Gentle Rein Therapies offer a powerful way of creating positive change. Rather than working with words only, clients are able to experience behavioural and cognitive solutions, which can be applied outside of the therapy setting.
