Looking forward to recommencing Yoga this Saturday.

Summer yoga is about opening the heart area and strengthening the abs and lower body, so we can continue to frolic in the Sun πŸ™‚. Our mudra will be Prana mudra, to let prana in to those areas that need it and Hakini mudra for continued equilibrium and equanimity no matter what is happening in our lives. All classes focus on the immune system, keeping it as well functioning as it can, which means there are pauses between postures and we start with a mindful/meditative practice followed by postures followed by relaxation.

Summer finally arrived in north-west Tassy, creating opportunities for fun, energy as well as easy relaxation in our beautiful area.

Yoga and Pilates classes recommence soon to supplement our energy, fun and relaxation. Some vacancies in Saturday afternoon and Thursday evening classes; in person or online. These small Yoga classes with breathwork, meditative techniques, relaxation and slow progression of postures help the the mind and body and immune system. Great way to start the new year.

Summer finally arrived and soon we shall be restarting our yoga and Pilates.

Pilates focuses on connecting with deep core muscles which we can carry through to all other physical activities whether strong or gentle.

All the yoga classes offer traditional yoga, that includes mindful and relaxation practices along with the physical practices.

Classes will restart in 3 weeks.and Timetable will be up soon. Til then enjoy our now lovely Summer.πŸ˜„πŸŒž.

Our wild Spring weather has certainly added to our yoga practices based on the elements this term. Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Space/Ether elements all have unique meditation, hand positions (mudra), mantra and physical practices which we've engaged in. The gentle moving practices are helping to rejuvenate our connective tissue and joint health after the stronger and held practices of Winter, including side bending and twisting like the regrowth of plants we see at this time of year. Alternate nostril breathing(nadi shodan) and slower and longer full breathing(viloma pranayama) prepare our nervous system for the encroaching busy festive season. We all find our own level of practice which will enhance our immune function. Now all we need is Summer to actually arrive πŸ˜ƒ.

It seems appropriate to focus on the elements in yoga as we have been experiencing all of them in Tasmania over the past month. The physical practices will return to more movement to rebuild our Springiness. This will include moving balances. Completed by our relaxation at the end, we hope to feel refreshed, rejuvenated and in balance at the end our 8-week term πŸ˜€.

Pilates, will as always, focus on stabilisation by using our deep muscles and build on our back and ab strength. Our balance, stretchy straps and weights will also focus on movement. Research is now encouraging moving balances as being effective for falls prevention.

Yoga and Pilates can be adapted for different people at different stages of life and who are experiencing different conditions. Over my 40 years of teaching wonderful students in a variety of urban, rural and remote settings I am still humbled by the positive effect of adapting practices combined with the often courageous endeavours of my students. Each student has their own body and story and method of working with yoga and Pilates to maximise its impact including some of my current students 🌸🩡🌸.
