Our wild Spring weather has certainly added to our yoga practices based on the elements this term. Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Space/Ether elements all have unique meditation, hand positions (mudra), mantra and physical practices which we've engaged in. The gentle moving practices are helping to rejuvenate our connective tissue and joint health after the stronger and held practices of Winter, including side bending and twisting like the regrowth of plants we see at this time of year. Alternate nostril breathing(nadi shodan) and slower and longer full breathing(viloma pranayama) prepare our nervous system for the encroaching busy festive season. We all find our own level of practice which will enhance our immune function. Now all we need is Summer to actually arrive π.
