3 easy ways to fit more daily exercise into your routine
We all know that daily exercise makes a BIG difference to our fitness, strength and mobility and overall health but many people struggle to find the time to fit it in. Here’s 3 tips to add more exercise to your daily routine without much effort:
1. Don’t drive or commute all the way to the shops or work. Park the car or get off the bus/train a stop away to add a walk in each way. Even 15-20 minutes to and from will add 30-40 minutes on to your daily total!

2. When you walk to the mailbox or put out the bins, keep going. Once around the block might be all that’s required to reach your daily step goals and hey, you’re already out there and moving – why stop now?

3. At the shops? Do a circuit or two. This is such an easy way to add more steps in, each day. Simply walk from one end of the shopping centre to the other and enjoy the window shopping along the way. It’s surprising how far it can be and how much the steps add up from an extra lap or two.

Tips for the silly season:
1. Wear supportive shoes whilst Christmas shopping
2. Maintain good posture and when in the car or on the couch, ensure the hips are ABOVE the knees. (We encounter many spinal problems following long car travel and from watching extended periods of cricket on the couch).
3. Stay active by incorporating 20 minutes of daily walking over the holiday period (this will help offset overindulging and a stiff back from too much sitting).
4. Lift carefully. Bend the knees and keep heavy loads close to the body. (Remember this when building that trampoline 11pm Christmas Eve!).

Are you a runner and experiencing dull pain at the front of the knee, made worse by going up or down stairs?

You may be suffering from Runner's Knee. I find Runner's knee to often be the result of a combination of factors, including wearing old shoes or shoes that don't suit your foot, having overly tight ITB/hamstrings and a weak VMO muscle (one of the 4 muscles making up the quadriceps).

Chiropractic can help manage this condition through adjusting the patella, muscle release techniques, massage, dry needling and strengthening exercises.

I hear this a lot from patients. And my response is usually

"Yes, but have you sat at the computer for 8 hours straight, or travelled long distances in the car? Or sat in bed watching movies on Netflix?"

Chances are you have. Most of us have!

John and I proudly attended Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Local Business Awards on Wednesday evening. Pennant Hills Chiropractic was nominated as a finalist in the Health Improvement Category. Despite missing out on the award, we had a wonderful evening, meeting other proud business finalists.

Our nominated category was Health Improvement, aptly named because our priority indeed is to not just relieve patients of spinal pain, but to improve their overall health through the amazing benefits of a spinal adjustment.
