This week, one of our Speech Pathologists, Lauren, attended an incredible professional development course by Cari Ebert, Speech Pathologist, parent, and passionate advocate for neurodiversity-affirming practice. 🤩

The training focused on building a deeper understanding of Autism as a neurodivergence, the role of the Central Nervous System and regulation, and reframing behaviours as communication in action, through a neuroscience and language-based lens. 👏

Lauren came away feeling inspired and energised, with practical, meaningful strategies to better support our clients and their families in everyday situations. She is excited to share this learning with the NSPOT team and continue building our approach to be even more neurodiversity-affirming and sensory-informed. 🤍🎉

Big changes are here for our families 👇

From March 1st, updates to the Medicare M10 pathway mean eligible children and young people (under 25) can now access increased support for speech services.

Early support matters, and these changes are a positive step towards making therapy more accessible for families.

February absolutely flew by and somehow fit so much in 🤍

We celebrated four work anniversaries and two birthdays, cheered on a very well-deserved promotion, and welcomed Diana back from A/L like she’d never been gone.

In between all that, we’ve continued onboarding new faces to our growing team, partnered with Bambi Bags for a special little collab, and that’s not even the half of it!

So much happened behind the scenes, in sessions, in team moments and in the everyday magic at NSPOT ✨

Part 2: What happens during the assessment!

While your child plays and interacts with the therapist, we gently observe and ask you questions along the way.

Our OT looks at motor skills, sensory processing, self-care and executive functioning. Our SP explores language, speech sounds, literacy and social communication.

After the session, we set goals together based on your concerns and what we’ve observed 🌳

You’ll receive a comprehensive report, and from there we move into therapy, starting with connection, comfort and trust. Because when a child feels safe, that’s when progress truly begins 🤍
