Do you need to warm up before exercise? 👀
Short answer: YES > but it’s all about how you do it!

🧪New research shows that dynamic warm-ups (think moving stretches and activation drills, for example: leg swings, body weight lunges!) can better prepare your muscles and joints. while static stretching before training isn’t always necessary.

💪 When recovering from injury, gentle stretching may help maintain muscle hypertrophy and mobility > if tolerated and guided by your physio.

The hip hinge (in the form of a deadlift here) is one of the most effective, safe ways to build posterior chain/lower body strength. It is ideally used for injury prevention and sports performance, and has a big carry over into sports requiring lifting, running or day to day function.

My two favourite cues to teach it are: ‘hips back and then drive forward’ and ‘push the floor away like a leg press with a strong, engaged upper body’. Whether you’re a runner, in the gym, or recovering from injury, mastering this pattern is key for long-term performance and resilience. 💪🦵”

🎃 OCTOBER STAFF CHALLENGE 🎃
This month our physios put their eyesight to the test, guessing knee angles without the Goniometer 👀➡️📏

In physio, a Goniometer helps us measure joint angles to:
👉 Track mobility and range of motion
👉 Monitor rehab progress
👉 Set goals for new improvements
👉 Guide safe return to sport or activities

👏 Congrats to Physio Lisa who guessed the closest and took the win this month! 🏆

Want your progress measured (with more accuracy than our challenge 🤣)? Book your appointment with iFix Physio Penrith today 📲

Most people fear heavy lifting because they’ve heard it causes back pain. The truth? Your back is more likely to struggle from poor recovery, unmanaged stress, lack of sleep, and skipping the slow build-up to heavy loads. Lifting isn’t the enemy > how you approach it is. Take care of the foundations, and your body will take care of you.

👉 Ready to train smarter and keep your back strong? Book in today
