We believe that your diagnosis, disability, or injury should not define you and as such shouldn’t entirely define your therapy.

πŸ‘€ We're looking back on this amazing event to ensure we keep moving forward!!

✨ Sydney Success Circle – Leadership, culture and care ✨

Thank you to , in partnership with for hosting the Sydney Success Circle and creating such a valuable space for conversation and connection across the sector. πŸ’ͺ

😊 A special thank you as well to Tania Woodman and for sponsoring the event and for inviting us to be part of such an engaging and thoughtful evening in Sydney.

The session focused on something that resonates strongly across disability, allied health and care sectors β€” how leaders balance performance, compliance and the human realities of work while building cultures that don’t just survive change, but truly thrive. πŸ’

Thank you to the speakers who shared their leadership journeys and real-world insights:
services – Penioni Tohi
– Rachel Hollis
– Kara Foscholo

And to Greg Gunther for facilitating such an insightful discussion.

πŸ’― The conversation highlighted that attracting, retaining and inspiring great people requires more than processes and reporting β€” it requires intentional leadership, trust and strong values-driven culture.
Zenn Ability

It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with others across the sector who share the same commitment to building sustainable teams and supporting the people who make care possible.

Thank you again to the organisers and sponsors for creating such a welcoming and meaningful event. πŸ’›

✨ Sydney Aged Care Provider Network✨ - Still buzzing.

What a fantastic way to begin 2026 β€” connecting, learning and collaborating at the first Sydney Aged Care Provider Network session for the year.

As always, it was a privilege for People First Therapy to be part of this important conversation alongside industry leaders and sector partners, including representatives from the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission and Services Australia.

A huge thank you to Chris, Trent and Kate for being our committee buddies supporting the Aged Care community.

With ongoing reforms and the transition toward Support at Home, we wanted to have the 'real' conversations the session created valuable space to unpack:

β€’ Assessment wait times and pathways
β€’ Regulatory expectations and quality standards
β€’ What compliance looks like in practice
β€’ How providers can continue to be prepared with continuity of care through barriers and successes.

The engagement in the room β€” thoughtful questions, open dialogue and genuine collaboration β€” reflected a sector committed to getting this right.

As allied health providers supporting older Australians in-home and in community settings, these conversations matter. Quality, safety, sustainability and dignity must remain at the centre of everything we build moving forward.

A sincere thank you to the Sydney Aged Care Provider Network and fellow hosts for creating such a professional, forward-focused environment.

We’re looking forward to continuing the community collaboration throughout 2026. πŸ’›

NDIS Assistive Technology: Physio-Recommended Supports

Physiotherapists prescribe Assistive Technology (AT) to improve safety, mobility, and independence.

AT funded through the NDIS generally falls into different cost levels and requires varying levels of assessment.

πŸ”Ή Low-Cost AT (typically under ~$1,500)
Example: 4-Wheel Walking Frame (Rollator)
βœ” improves walking stability & endurance
βœ” reduces falls risk
βœ” increases confidence in the community
βœ” supports independent mobility

πŸ’‘ Often quick to access and may be funded through Core or Capital Supports.

πŸ”Ή Mid-Cost AT (requires quote & therapist recommendation)
Example: Standing Frame and Gait Trainer
βœ” supports bone & hip development
βœ” improves posture & muscle length
βœ” enhances breathing & circulation
βœ” enables play & interaction at eye level
βœ” promotes participation & independence

πŸ“‹ Usually requires:
β€’ physiotherapy assessment
β€’ trial & clinical justification
β€’ supplier quote for NDIS approval

Speak with your physiotherapist to determine what Assistive Technology is appropriate for you.

✨ Sometimes the magic happens in between the moments of doing. ✨

We're Jemma and Marli - The Mum and Daughter duo, doing Marli's exercises together!

Our home is a therapy home - For the last 15 years, we've been on a consistent therapy journey. That's 15 years of goals, exercises, plans, reviews… and learning that progress isn’t only found in perfect places or ticking boxes.

Sometimes, it’s found in the quiet conversations.
The giggles. 🀣πŸ€ͺ
The moments of connection that happen in between the reps and routines.⭕️

This video captures one of those moments β€” a special Mum and Daughter chat that only happened because we slowed down, worked as a team, and left space for it.

Like many neurodivergent households, we lean into dopamine-friendly strategies to keep things engaging.Β

Today’s motivation looked like:
πŸ’§ New Frank Green tumblers
πŸ’„ Lip gloss as a sensory reset
πŸ‘• Marli's new β€œwork shirt”
🩹 A giggle over having the / first aid kit on standby

We promise there are no promotions. No partnerships.
Just a real family using new shiny things as a reward to keep moving forward together.

This is what teamwork looks like in our home - This is us β€” just being us. πŸ’›πŸ’™

The smiles say it all ✨️

We loved connecting with local providers in Hawkesbury at this relaxed and welcoming catch-up, hosted by Liz from and Leane from

It was a great opportunity to share ideas, strengthen relationships, and continue building strong collaboration across the disability and allied health sector.

Events like this remind us how important it is to come together, exchange knowledge, and support one another to deliver high-quality, participant-centred services.

Thank you, Liz and Leane, for creating such a warm and collaborative space. We’re looking forward to many more opportunities to connect and grow together in 2026. πŸ’›

πŸ”Ή Learning Together. Thinking Ahead. Strengthening the Sector. πŸ”Ή

Yesterday, we attended the Building Bridges Network event, and one message came through strongly: our sector is at its best when we come together to share knowledge, challenge thinking, and plan for the future β€” collectively.

The central question guiding the day was an important one: 🎯 β€œWhat will the NDIS look like in 2026?” The panel brought thoughtful perspectives, practical insight and lived experience to the conversation:

β€’ Teresa Lam – UNISSON
β€’ Jonathan Salgo – Found
β€’ Esha Oberoi – Leora Care

What stood out was not just what was discussed, but how β€” with openness, curiosity and a genuine commitment to strengthening outcomes for participants and the workforce alike.

Thank you to the Building Bridges committee β€” Emanuel Gini, Howard Law and Earl Schonberger β€” for creating a space that was welcoming, thoughtful and focused on lifting the quality of the sector as a whole.

Events like this reinforce the value of shared learning, strong collaboration and proactive planning as we navigate what’s ahead. Here’s to continuing the conversation and building a sector that’s informed, resilient and ready for the future. πŸ’›

β˜€οΈ Staying Safe During Heatwaves

Extreme heat isn’t just uncomfortable β€” it can be dangerous. Heatwaves increase the risk of dehydration, heat exhaustion and heatstroke, especially for older adults, people with disabilities, children, and those with chronic health conditions.

During hot weather, it’s important to take extra care by:

🌑️ Staying well hydrated and drinking water regularly

🌑️ Keeping cool indoors where possible (fans, air conditioning, shaded areas)

🌑️ Avoiding strenuous activity during the hottest parts of the day

🌑️ Wearing light, loose-fitting clothing

🌑️ Checking in on family, neighbours and people who may need extra support

Heat can also worsen existing health conditions and increase the risk of falls, fatigue and confusion. Planning ahead and recognising early warning signs can make a real difference.

At People First Therapy, we support safe, inclusive care across all seasons β€” including adjusting therapy, home visits and routines during extreme heat to prioritise wellbeing.

January Fitness Mistakes (and how to avoid them) πŸ‘€

Every January motivation is high πŸ’ͺ
Unfortunately, so are injuries. Here are the most common fitness mistakes we see in January β€” and what to do instead πŸ‘‡

❌ Doing too much, too soon
➑️ Build gradually. Your body needs time to adapt.

❌ Focusing only on weight loss
➑️ Strength, mobility & consistency matter more.

βœ… How to avoid injury this January:
β€’ Start slow
β€’ Prioritise technique
β€’ Rest is part of training
β€’ Get advice early if something doesn’t feel right

🌍 Universal Health Coverage Day

Today is Universal Health Coverage (UHC) Day, a global reminder that everyone deserves access to quality healthcare without financial hardship. This includes essential therapy, rehabilitation, mental health supports, and community-based care β€” services that help people live safely, independently, and with dignity.

In Australia, we are fortunate to have strong systems such as Medicare, public hospital care, the NDIS, Support at Home program etc, which aim to streamline supports and make services easier for Australians to access. These systems create a solid foundation β€” but we also know we can do better.

Many people still experience barriers in accessing consistent, safe, and appropriate care, particularly people with disabilities, older Australians, those in rural or outer-suburban communities, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, CALDcommunities and people facing financial or social disadvantage.

At People First Therapy, this commitment is reflected in how we support our communities through:

✨ Person-centred physiotherapy and allied health supports
✨ Mobile and in-home services that reduce access barriers
✨ Evidence-based, culturally responsive practice
✨ Support for NDIS patients requiring coordinated, ongoing therapy
✨ Services aligned with Support at Home principles of intervention, reablement and flexible care
✨ Collaboration with families, carers, and providers to ensure continuity and inclusion

Every person deserves quality care. Every community deserves inclusion. πŸ’›πŸ’™

🌏 Human Rights Day β€” 10 December

Today, we recognise Human Rights Day and the anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) β€” the 1948 document that first outlined the fundamental rights and freedoms that belong to every person. It remains a guiding standard for equity, dignity, and justice worldwide and underpins the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The UDHR is also the most translated document in the world, with over 577 languages. βœ…οΈ

At People First Therapy, these principles align closely with the values of choice, control, inclusion and safety. In our everyday practice, human rights mean things such as:

✨ Upholding dignity and respect
✨ Supporting autonomy and decision-making
✨ Delivering equitable, accessible therapy
✨ Empowering community participation
