Sometimes we need to hear feel good stories!

For the last month, one of our participants has been working hard to establish her small business in arts and craft.

She is extremely brilliant in what she does. Her small business is about creating designs for your special occasion or for your business - she can do business cards, pens and anything you are interested in.

We celebrated her launch yesterday with her friends and other housemates. We are so proud of her and her achievement.

If you have a special occasion and you want something special done for your occasion, you can contact her on 0414717693 or Seachkellie3@gmail.com

It is so easy to lose focus at work but having worked in Organisational Psychology I can definitely say these tips definitely work. In fact, there is a plethora of research that suggest this works with the right amount of consistency.

It can be quite difficult to make a genuine apology. Our natural defense mechanisms coupled with our personality traits make it difficult to apologise for something you may have done intentionally or unintentionally. There are times where you will be in denial and times where you will think that you will make it worse by apologising. Research has shown that effective and genuine apology can actually make the situation a lot better and give people a sense of confidence to do it again when the time arises.

If you have been in a situation where you need to apologise then incorporating the 6 R’s will be helpful.

Recognition: recognising the mistake and the harm it caused someone else.

Responsibility: an admission of the responsibility and fault.

Regret: an expression of regret and sympathy.

Reasons: an explanation of what happened, how you felt and your own errors in the situation.

Redress: an explanation of what is being done to fix the mistake and/or problem to prevent it from happening again.

Release: in some circumstances, requesting a forgiveness if you were never at fault.

Some tips on helping you get through the day. The key is always to be consistent in your practice. It is easy to lose focus and go back into old habits. Habits have been created over a long period of time and it becomes ingrained in you so walking away from that will become difficult. But trying to create a more consistent approach in managing your stresses throughout the day will be helpful for you. Change in habits don’t happen over night, it happens when practices are consistent, regular and become a part of your every day life.

The price that young people have to pay to understand their self worth and feel respected is determined by everyone else in some cultures. We constantly tell our children that they have to be a certain way, that they have to act a certain, that they have to talk a certain way otherwise they will become the topic of conversation at everyone’s household.

That’s so damaging to young kids especially when they are trying so hard to develop self esteem and self worth in a society that is constantly changing.

Why is it that we place so much emphasis on what other people think of us?

Psychologically, majority of us do this because we want peoples approval. The need to seek approval is for us to gain some kind of self esteem, to make ourselves feel good about who we are, to make ourselves feel good about how we have raised our children and how much we have achieved in life because it gives us reputation, a sense of pride and the ability to be the best amongst your own family members. People like the idea of others looking at their glory and will not be able to stand shame, embarrassment or even downgrading of their reputation. But during the process, they lose their children who will continue to struggle to please other people and seek their approval.

If you’re a product of this then the breaking that cycle begins with you. Let your children develop their own sense of individuality instead of making them seek the pleasure and approval of others to determine their self worth.
