Award Winning Care – Georges Estate Takes The Win! 🏆

Last night, the Georges Estate Team celebrated a milestone win at the Georges River Council Local Business Awards! 🌟

Taking out top honours in the ‘Community Services’ category, our team was incredibly excited and humbled to accept this prestigious accolade amongst a strong list of inspiring local finalists.

A heartfelt thank you to Georges River Council, the event sponsors, and of course, the wonderful Georges River community, who voted for us. 💙

Georges Estate in the running for local business award 🥇

The Georges Estate team will take their places next to other leading local businesses on July 29 when the winners will be announced for the Georges River Local Business Awards.

Held at the Southern Sydney Event Centre, the special night will be eagerly anticipated by all the finalists vying for the top award in each category.

Georges Estate, which employs over 150 people in a wide variety of roles, has been selected as a finalist in the Community Services category.

"This recognition makes our staff, and our residents feel so proud of what we have built," said Sarah Riach, Executive Director of Georges Estate, as reported in the St George & Sutherland Shire Leader.

"We truly are a local business and love supporting other local businesses, community groups and our local constituents."

Georges River Council Mayor Offers Condolence to Georges Estate resident

Mayor Elise Borg will offer a brief reading about Georges Estate resident and local constituent of the Georges River Council, Margaret Callister, who passed away recently.

Margaret was the niece of the inventor of Vegemite and had a wonderful life story that centred around her love of the Bexley community.

The message of condolence will be read by the Mayor and will highlight Margaret’s life during the Council Meeting on May 26.

For all those who are interested, the speech will be printed into local papers and the meeting will be available to watch on the ‘Meeting Of Council’ page of the Georges River Council website.

And that's a wrap on Global Intergenerational Week!

Iris, Judith and Renata have a few things in common. They all love attending Georges Estate Intergenerational Playgroup and they all graduated from the same high school, decades apart! They shared stories of their time at high school and even sang the school song together!

The power of Intergenerational playgroups goes beyond play, it’s about building connection and community all across generations.

A taste of the creative 🎨

The residents at GE recently enjoyed a Performing & Creative Art Exhibition event, followed by a community high tea. Art therapist Tatiana, who holds two sessions of art therapy per week with our residents, has been working toward this showcase of ‘masterpiece’ paintings completed by our residents for some time now.

This special event was attended by local dignitary Mark Coure MP, who stayed to enjoy our afternoon tea and chat with residents about this wonderful project. Word on the street was that he is ‘blown away by all the talent here at Georges Estate!’

Our resident choir also performed some songs for the gathering, wearing their choir uniforms; they looked and sounded incredible.

Thanks to all who participated and created such beautiful works for our home.
