Your feet are in safe hands with us!

Each and every instrument (clippers, files, blade handles, surgical instruments, and more) used by our podiatrists are sterilised by our clinic autoclave under strict infection control guidelines. As a medical practice, we can be audited to ensure we are compliant by the NSW Podiatry Council at any time and without notice. In fact, we only just had a random audit conducted on site in the last month - passing with flying colours!

Ouch! 😫

Has the soccer star in your family got a toe that looks like this?

Ingrown toenails are common in soccer players due to the repetitive pressure and trauma on the toes from kicking, especially when wearing tight or narrow footy boots. The constant impact can lead to nail damage, curvature, and eventually an ingrown toenail.

Prevention includes-
1. Proper Nail Trimming: Trim nails straight across, leaving enough space for the nail to grow without cutting into the skin.
2. Comfortable, Well-Fitting Footwear: Ensure boots fit properly and provide adequate space for the toes.
3. Soaking: Soaking the foot in warm, soapy water can help soften the skin, clean the toe, and make it easier to lift the nail edge gently.
4. If you see nil improvement, make an appointment to see your podiatrist. A portion of the nail may need to be removed to allow the skin to heal. Sometimes, the podiatrist will need to perform a procedure that stops the offending portion from growing permanently.

Meet Vincent!

Earning his Bachelor of Podiatry degree in 2016, Vincent joined the Penshurst Podiatry team in 2022.

His friendly, gentle, kindhearted personality will put you at ease from the moment you meet him. Vincent has exceptional communication skills and is proficient in English and Vietnamese.

Vincent has a special interest in general treatments and diabetic foot care. He conveniently brings his podiatry services to you with in-home podiatry care. If you aren't able to come into our clinic, just give us a call and our lovely reception team will organise for Vincent to pay you a visit.

"I love that no matter how many feet I see in a day, they all tell a different story."

When Vincent is not caring for your feet, he enjoys being outdoors, going to the gym, hiking, and snowboarding.

Interesting fact- Vincent's family grew by two feet in 2023, welcoming his first child, a beautiful son.

Look for these 5 things when buying your child's school shoes this year. After all, they'll be spending 30+ hours in them each week!

1. A wide and deep toe box. This ensures enough space to be able to wiggle the toes without restriction.

2. Laces or a strap to fasten the shoe securely onto the foot, and hold the heel at the back of the shoe against the heel counter. This will stop slipping in the shoe that can lead to blisters and overuse of toe muscles trying to grip at the shoe.

3. A sole that is zero drop, or as close to zero drop as possible. This is the thickness of the sole at the heel of the shoe compared to the forefoot of the shoe. When this measurement is even, it prevents overloading of any areas.

4. A sole that allows the foot to bend and move naturally. There are a few circumstances that require a child's foot to be functionally corrected, but in the vast majority of cases, a school shoe should be as unrestrictive as possible.

5. An upper that is made of a breathable materal. Leather is always a good choice as it'll prevent excessive moisture build-up within the shoe environment that can lead to fungal infections and odour.
