The majority of my clients that have neck problems generally avoid using their neck to avoid pain, and more often than not they have no idea what to do about it.
Is this you❓
Long-term damage is common for the average office worker if they do not take a proactive approach to their sedentary work. ❌
If you have ever suffered from neck problems you may relate to this ( eg: text neck pain ) OR
❌You might wake up every morning with a sore neck,
❌ have neck pain throughout the day because of was sitting so much in front of your computer,
❌ or generally it may just feel very restricted when you turn your head between screens
❌stiffness from looking at the mobile device we can all relate to
❌ maybe restriction
When driving looking over your shoulder to turn.
❌pain after exercise
Not moving and avoiding using your neck is a protective pattern, more often most people don’t even realise they are doing it, it is the bodies natural way of protecting itself. 💙
In the case of exercising, a protective posture will only feed into the imbalance and cause more problems. ❌
It us only when you actually have to move that part of your body you feel its restricted , tightness or pain and is an indication that something must be done. 💪
BUT WHAT DO I DO ???
Well for one thing, ‘ use it, or lose it’ , something as simple as regular lateral neck stretching will help keep your neck mobilised and stretched. 🤩
And we MUST strengthen the cervical extensors (neck muscles at the back ) to correct the postural component of our body 💪
