Huh?? Felden- what??? And why???
Moshe Feldenkrais offered a new way of discovering ourselves through movement—one that is gentle, intelligent, and deeply human. Drawing on his knowledge as a scientist and engineer, he showed that real strength does not come from strain or effort, but from learning how to move with awareness and ease. True movement, he believed, should awaken energy rather than drain it, leaving us lighter, calmer, and more alive.
At the centre of this work is the nervous system—the hidden orchestra that shapes how we move, feel, and respond to life. When old habits soften, the body’s natural wisdom emerges. Movements grow smoother, breathing deepens, emotions find release, and the unity of body and mind becomes something we can feel in every step, every breath.
Lessons often begin on the ground, where gravity’s pull loosens and the body can rest into new possibilities. With small, playful explorations, joints free themselves, the breath opens, and the pelvis—the body’s centre of power—awakens as the quiet source of effortless strength.
Each lesson is a journey. A single theme is explored from many angles, gently repeated so that the body learns without strain. Sometimes one side of the body is freed first, revealing the contrast with the other. At other times, the imagination leads the way, proving that the mind’s images can transform the body’s reality.
Feldenkrais taught that every action is woven from four threads: movement, sensation, feeling, and thought. When these come together in harmony, we rediscover the joy of moving as nature intended—free, flowing, and whole.
