This weekend part two of the Concussion Cruise 2025 kicks off with Sam running from Bermagui to Accor stadium in time for the NRL Grand Final!

Sam, alongside fellow Concussion Cruiser Jack, has been on the receiving end of concussion and is spreading awareness of the traumatic brain injury.

Brain Injury Awareness Week 2025

Did you know that following a concussion it's ok to follow your normal sleep patterns? While it's a good idea to have someone check on you following a concussion, sleeping as normal is recommended for brain recovery.

This week is Brain Injury Awareness Week here in Australia.

Concussion is also known as a mild traumatic brain injury, with many people believing that you have to be knocked out to suffer a concussion. In actual fact, more than 90% of concussion cases DO NOT involve a loss of consciousness.

Last year, Jack and Sam ran 488Km from the NSW border to the MCG to raise awareness of Traumatic Brain Injury. This year they're going again!

Jack will run through Europe, while Sam will run from Bermagui to the NRL grand final.

This week marks Brain Injury Awareness Week in Australia.

Each year approximately 200,000 Australians will suffer a traumatic brain injury. Of those 200,000 around 180,00 are concussion. As an invisible injury it's important to understand the signs, symptoms and red flags of concussion. If you witnessed a concussion, would you be able to recognise it?

This animation is the result of consultation and co-design with a number of Elders and community groups. We hope it further helps to explain what happens when a concussion occurs, and why it's important to treat concussion seriously.

Last September Jack Corcoran and Sam O'Connor ran from the NSW border to the MCG for the AFL grand final. This year they're back!
