BABY IT’S HOT OUTSIDE! ☀️👶
💧 When can babies drink water?
Let’s not water this down ⬇️
Wondering when it’s safe to give your little one water? Here’s a quick guide based on the Australian Infant Feeding Guidelines:
💦 Under 6 months:
Your baby doesn’t need water - just breast milk or infant formula. Even in hot weather, extra feeds are better than water at this age.
💦 Around 6 months:
Once solids are introduced, you can offer small amounts of water in addition to milk/formula - but it should NOT replace their feeds.
💦 Up to 12 months:
Breast milk or formula should still be the main source of fluids. Water is just a little extra.
🚫 Drinks like juice, soft drink, cordial, and animal or plant milks aren’t recommended before 12 months.
💡 T***y bit #1: If you’re giving tap water before age 1, boil it and cool it first for safety.
💡T***y bit #2 (slightly unrelated)- Check the UV rating. Little ones can burn easily in the shade.
