As much as I love spontaneous labour, I also love a good spontaneous post. I suck at the grid planning stuff - it’s just not me. Most of my insp (a.k.a my crappy social media ideas) comes from my morning walks. Walking feels a little RISKAAAY atm. 🦅- just like some births come with their own set of risks. What matters most is how we use the knowledge we have. Always remember to use the BRAIN acronym- Benefits, Risks, Alternatives, Intuition and Nothing.

A newborn tummy size is tiny. In those early days and even weeks your baby might cry a lot, though it doesn’t always mean hunger. They may be tired, gassy, need a nappy change or more often than not closeness. If poos and wee’s are tracking along well, trust they are getting what they need.
Take a breath, ease the pressure and ride the waves of unpredictably in those early weeks.
If in doubt contact a lactation consultant - they are worth their weight in gold.
You are doing amazing 💕

Finding my balance again and being swooped by magpies 🦅🍃

Grateful for the wild ride of unexpected beginnings and the beauty of birth untouched.🥰

A first meeting with a beautiful couple turned into the sweetest surprise — a few moments of acupressure, and before the birth pool was even ready, their little one was in their arms💕

Ten days later, two more births in just 22 hours reminded me how unpredictable, humbling, and magical this work truly is.
Even this sleep-loving granny doula wouldn’t trade it for anything. 💫

BREECH AND CAESAREAN BIRTHS - Inspired by a true birth story -

What emotional impacts can be associated with Breech and Caesarean births.

The importance of informed consent, respectful collaboration, and systemic changes to ensure empowering and safe birth experiences.

There’s a quiet kind of trauma unfolding in maternity wards every day — subtle, hard to name, but impossible to forget. It can happen when a couple walks into a hospital believing they have choices, only to feel those choices gradually narrowing under the weight of “policy” and “protocol.....

I was so blessed to support Liana postpartum after the birth of beautiful Matilda. 💕

The thing is - I’m sure she overheard many of my off tune renditions of “Mary had a little lamb” while rocking Matilda off to sleep. 🤭
Little did I know she was a professional singer 🤦🏼‍♀️
Have a listen- she’s amazing!

Didn’t get the “mum who drops off casseroles and folds your laundry while you nap”?

I'm her, she's me — 54, mum of 5, granny of 4 (+ lots of adopted ones), professional baby whisperer, and expert at “I’ll tidy while you feed” multitasking 💁‍♀️

Whether you’re breastfeeding, bottle feeding, or just surviving on coffee and cuddles, I’m here to be your stand-in mum — without the unsolicited advice (or floral nighties).

💕 Postpartum support | newborn care | sleep help | a warm meal and a listening ear

✨ Because everyone deserves a mum-figure who actually shows up.

Mother Nature sometimes has a plan of its own during pregnancy and birth. This plan may be your “last choice” and it can stir up all kinds of emotions such as sadness, regret and grief. What’s important during these pivotal moments is ➡️ Informed choice and consent.
Knowledge behind YOUR choices during birth empowers you to make decisions that align with your values, ensuring respectful, safe, and personalised care.

Sometimes it is not the birth you dreamed of and that’s really tough, but knowing it was the birth YOU chose in those raw and vulnerable moments is everything.

A birth sling is a support tool used during labour to help a birthing person find comfortable, effective positions, especially upright ones like squatting or leaning. It’s usually made of strong fabric and is either suspended from the ceiling, a frame, or a birthing bar.

What it does:
🤰Provides support during contractions.
🤰Helps open the pelvis and encourage optimal fetal positioning.
🤰Allows for gravity-assisted birth, which can shorten labour.
🤰Offers a sense of security and stability in upright or active birth positions.

Birth slings are often used in hospitals, birthing centres, or home births that support active birthing.
