💡Does anyone else always feel the need to constantly be “productive”?
🤯 Do you have that constant mind chatter that’s always telling you there’s always something else to do, more to learn and that if you’re not, you’re wasting time?
😬 There seems to be so much information surrounding us regarding how to be more productive, productivity hacks etc and it can be so easy to attach a sense of guilt to just doing nothing!
⭐️ Of course, I truly believe in the importance of being productive, but do we really feel like we need to be productive ALL the time?
💻 It was SO tempting to want to take my laptop on the trip down south I just returned from. I thought I’d be able to “sneak in” a bit of work here and there. Plus when I thought of the 3 hour drive to get there, my immediate thoughts were, “wow, imagine how much I can learn and do in 3 hours - yesss!”
❌ But I didn’t take my laptop or the books I had ready to pack. Instead, I challenged myself to be completely present with my surrounds both on the car ride there and back and throughout the trip.
⁉️ What did I notice? Well, when you’re looking outside a car window for 3 hours, it’s interesting to see what thoughts come up! In summary, I can report that by being completely present I was able to then think more freely, creatively and with much more clarity. I was able to actually taken notice of my thoughts rather than just push them away by being distracted. I guess I felt like I got to know myself a bit better.
🤷🏽♀️ Was I bored at times? YES! I absolutely was, but I’ve also learned that boredom is a vital stage in the creative process.
🏡 Becoming reunited with my laptop today has given me a newfound sense of motivation after my time away from it and so what I keep learning time and time again is…..
✨ the key to having more energy, clarity and creativity comes from doing less!
