I am now a certified LEGO® Based Therapy Facilitator and have the knowledge and skills to implement and run my own LEGO® Based Therapy programs.
LEGO® Based Therapy is an evidence-based, play-based program designed to support social communication and development. It was pioneered by pediatric neuropsychologist Dr. Daniel LeGoff in the mid-1990s. This child-led, engaging, and gentle approach helps children develop essential social communication skills in a fun and interactive way.
LEGO® Based Therapy is a strengths-focused intervention that fosters observation and adaptability skills. Research indicates that children respond more positively to this approach compared to traditional methods. Through collaborative play, participants learn to seek guidance and support from one another, building relationships in a safe and respectful space.
This therapy is beneficial for children facing various social and communication challenges. It has been shown to be effective for autistic children, those with neurodevelopmental conditions, as well as children experiencing anxiety, phobias, adjustment difficulties, ADHD, and depression.
LEGO® Based Therapy does not aim to change how neurodivergent children communicate to fit typical standards. Instead, it equips them with tools to navigate social interactions in a way that works best for them. This enjoyable, connection-focused program helps children build meaningful peer relationships while enhancing their confidence in social settings.
