Dry Needling ⚡️

Daniel and Anthony are both qualified in administering dry needling. Dry needling is a tool used to target trigger points and tight muscles to relieve pain and discomfort in the body. The nature of the technique allows clinicians to be precise and intentional in their treatment approach.

Some benefits of dry needling include:
- Pain relief and improved range of motion
- Faster recovery through the promotion of tissue healing and repair
- Enhanced performance

Dry needling is a great tool to use in combination with other treatment techniques and management strategies to get you pain free and performing at your best.

Acute injury management 🔥
Have you recently injured yourself? Here’s a guide on what to do to optimise your rehab journey!

First 1-3 days:
Protection: For the next 1-3 days give time for your injured tissues to calm down and begin healing by unloading or restricting movement.
Elevation: Elevate the limb above the heart as much as possible to allow for drainage of fluid out of the injured tissues.
Avoid anti-inflammatories: These medications can disrupt the inflammatory process in the body that is required for healing. High doses may negatively affect long term healing.
Compression: Use a compression bandage or taping to help limit swelling
Education: The benefits of an active approach for rehab outweigh the benefits of utilising passive approaches such as manual therapy. Manual therapy should be used as an adjunct to rehab rather than the only approach.

3 days and further:
Load: Movement and exercise should be recommenced as pain allows. Optimal loading stimulates healing of the injured tissues.
Optimism: Patients who have optimistic expectations tend to have better outcomes. The contrary can be a barrier to recovery.
Vascularisation: Cardiovascular exercise that is pain free can aid in healing by increasing blood flow to the affected area and boosting motivation.
Exercise: Strong evidence supports the use of exercise for muscuoloskeletal disorders. Exercise aims to restore mobility, strength and proprioception. Pain should be avoided/very minimal and can be used as a guide on the dosage of exercise.

Welcome, Anthony!! 🤩 We are super excited to introduce the newest member of the team

A bit about Anthony…

He pursued a career as a Physiotherapist, after his personal struggles with injury from playing AFL and from weightlifting. Anthony grew a desire to help others overcome their injuries and challenges, from his personal experiences, as he understood the mental toll injuries may carry.

Throughout his studies, Anthony has been involved in a variety of sporting clubs. These opportunities allowed him to gain experience in managing sporting injuries, both on and off the field. Anthony is currently the Physiotherapist for the .wanl Men’s Netball Team (West Australian Netball League) and the amateur football club..

Anthony is a holistic Physiotherapist who enjoys assessing and treating all conditions. Whether it involves guiding patients back to the sporting field or helping people return to their meaningful daily activities, he is ready to take on the challenge. No matter the condition, Anthony listens thoroughly and provides a management/treatment plan that is centered around his patients goals.

Outside of Physiotherapy, you will find Anthony keeping active by running along the coast and lifting weights in the gym. He also enjoys a trip over to Melbourne to visit his family, and watch his beloved Bombers!

Come and see Anthony in January/February for an initial consultation at a introductory rate of just $75!
