The More Beautiful World Our Hearts Know Is Possible by Charles Eisenstein is my current read.

If the title of this book doesn’t sound interesting to you then I don’t think we could have a genuinely deep friendship. He-he, just kidding, it’s fine if we have differing views!

If you are a deep thinker and a lover of humans, the world and your place in it, give this one a read. It’s a beautiful, sorrowful, thought provoking and internally conflicting at times look at the world. An antidote to cynicism, frustration and paralysis. This is my second or third re-reading. I recommend a short chapter in the morning with a cuppa as my favourite way to read this book. I find it too much to process in larger chunks.

If you read it, I’m almost certain you’ll have something to say when I next see you! 💜 Charley

Spring is here even though it may still feel chilly and it’s the perfect season to shake off the heaviness of winter 🌿

In yoga, spring often symbolises renewal - a time to wake up the body gently, clear out old energy and make space for what’s next.

Even a few minutes of stretching, breathing or stepping outside to notice the change in the air can shift how you feel.

Here’s to longer days and moving with a little more ease. What’s one thing you’re looking forward to this spring? 💜 Charley

Feeling off-balance isn’t always a physical issue. Sometimes it’s deeper than that.

Your balance is directly linked to your nervous system. When you’re stressed, tired, anxious or overstimulated, your ability to stay steady takes a hit.

Your breath gets shallow. Your muscles grip. Your focus scatters.

That’s why gentle movement and breath practices can have such a powerful effect - not just physically, but emotionally too.

When you slow down and move with awareness:
🌬 Your breath deepens
🧘‍♀️ Your body softens
🧠 Your nervous system shifts out of “fight or flight”

And that’s where real balance begins.

So if you’re feeling wobbly in more ways than one - Pause. Breathe. Move slowly. You don’t need to force stillness. Just give yourself permission to return to it. 💜 Charley

Did you know some of the most effective strength-building comes from short, low-impact sequences done with care and consistency?

Here’s what that might look like:

💪 A few sit-to-stand reps using a chair
🦵 Standing near the wall and lifting your heels slowly
🧘‍♀️ Holding gentle standing poses for a few breaths (with support!)
✋ Light resistance work using your own body weight or a strap

No floor work, no fast movements, no pain.

Just simple, thoughtful movement that keeps your muscles engaged and your joints safe.

If it feels manageable, you’ll keep doing it. And that’s where the real strength comes from - showing up often, not straining once.

Props are one of the most underrated tools when it comes to building strength - especially in a body that’s healing, aging or just plain tired 😴

We often think of props as “just for support,” but they’re also incredibly effective for adding resistance, improving alignment and encouraging deeper engagement.

Here’s how they help:

🧱 Blocks allow you to bring the floor closer - but also help you activate your legs and arms more intentionally in standing poses

🪑 Chairs make it easier to focus on strength without worrying about balance

🧵 Straps help activate the upper body without overreaching

🧘‍♀️ Walls give you stability while you build strength and confidence

Props don’t mean you’re doing less. They mean you’re doing it smarter.

And for anyone working with injuries, stiffness, or fatigue - they’re not optional extras. They’re essentials.

Your body deserves tools that support where you’re at today.

Movement doesn’t always have to mean sweaty workouts or forcing your body into things it doesn’t enjoy.

In fact, one of the best ways to stay active as we age is to simplify 🙌

Keep it fun. Keep it regular. And most of all keep it kind.

Here are a few ideas to help you stay active without burning out:

🪑 A few seated stretches while you watch the news

🚶‍♀️ A short walk around the block while breathing mindfully

🧘‍♀️ Gentle yoga that moves your joints through their full range without force

🦶 Standing up and sitting down from a chair 5 - 10 times to build strength

Small bits of movement done daily are far more helpful than occasional big bursts. Why? Because they support your circulation, your joints, your mood and your nervous system in a sustainable way.

And if you're tired, busy, or stiff? Start with just one stretch. One breath. One pause.

That’s still movement. That still counts 💜 Charley
