Easyheats began, out of a need to find a solution to a common problem. Having worked as a physiotherapist for over 25 years, mainly in a private practise, my job and my passion is to help people to minimise the impact that pain has on their everyday life. Often, this involves enhancing or optimising the body’s natural healing processes, for example following injury or surgery. Often, it involves the management of more chronic or long term aches and pains. Invariably, it also involves education, regarding those little things that can be done every day, to prevent or at least minimise the occurrence of pain. Even though the use of both heat and cold is arguably the most widely accepted and practised form of natural home therapy, often recommended by health professionals. Until now, the methods of applying heat and cold have been awkward, and in some cases caused more harm than good.

🌟 Fit for Living: Your Guide to Achieving Physical Wellness 🌟

As a physiotherapist, I've had the privilege of helping countless individuals who struggle with aches, pains, injuries, and ongoing body issues that impact their daily lives. These challenges often hinder their ability to do the things they need and want to do, whether it's for work, enjoyment, or simply carrying out daily activities.

I've noticed that many people bemoan their inability to do things they used to find easy. They acknowledge the need to be "fitter," but they're often unsure about how to achieve it or even what it truly means. I totally get it! Especially as we get older, it's easy to see fitness as an all-or-nothing concept, making the task of getting "fit" feel incredibly daunting.

But here's the thing: What exactly is "fitness," and how do we begin our journey, especially when we start noticing a decline in our body's capabilities? It can be overwhelming, I know, and often leads us to give up before we even start because it seems too difficult.

That's why I believe the best place to begin is by defining what "fitness" means to you as an individual. Once we establish that, we can explore the main components of fitness and create realistic goals and strategies. Trust me, knowledge is powerful, and my hope is that by diving into each major component with practical tips and suggestions, the task won't seem as insurmountable.

What's more, I'll provide suggestions that can seamlessly integrate into your daily life. Over the next six months, my goal is to create a comprehensive resource of information that you can refer back to whenever needed. It'll serve as your go-to guide on your fitness journey, offering valuable insights and support along the way.

Now, you might be thinking, "Who is this guide for?" Well, it's for anyone who is no longer participating in a physically active sport or job but still wants to enhance their physical well-being. Regardless of your starting point, age, or current level of activity, there will be something for you in this guide.

So, are you ready to take control of your body and embrace a healthier, more active lifestyle? Let's embark on this journey together, one step at a time, as we unlock the secrets to becoming fit for living. Remember, every small effort counts, and by taking that first step, you're already on your way to a fitter, happier you!

Did you know that the bicycle is one of the most important inventions in the history of the planet. It provides millions of people with a means of transport powered by nothing other than their bodies. It’s practical, reliable, and helps one to stay fit. Many find that it’s a fun and hassle-free way to get around and take care of daily tasks.

There are many reasons why celebrating World Bicycle Day (3 June) is essential to the health of individuals and the environment. It’s a sustainable means of transportation that’s simple to use, affordable, and is reliable for those who may not have access to a car. It provides access to education, health care, and physical activity for those who don’t have any other means of transportation.

It gives users an immediate awareness of the local environment and fosters creativity and social engagement among community members. The positive impact on the climate and one’s health simply can’t be overlooked. The bicycle offers a sustainable transportation solution and a way for people to show their support for creating a better environment and planet.

How are you going to celebrate World Bicycle Day?

A common question I get asked is which is better, high impact or low impact exercises?

When done properly, both high and low impact types of exercise are excellent for helping you get your body into shape. In this case, “impact” refers to the action of one object coming into contact with the other—on the body. High impact workouts come into contact with the floor, equipment, etc. harder and more often. Low impact workouts come into contact with very little. There are also “no impact” activities, like swimming, that may not come into contact at all.

Low impact workouts are the ones that require you to leave at least one foot off the ground. Examples include cycling, cardio on the elliptical machine, hiking, yoga, Pilates, and dancing. Because there is less impact, these exercises tend to be gentler on the joints and muscles.

High impact workouts are defined as those that move both feet off the ground at the same time. Examples include cross training—such as jumping off plyo boxes or doing burpees—running, jumping jacks, or knee-highs. Popular high intensity training programs include CrossFit, Insanity, and P90X. This is much harder on the body.

As we get older, low impact exercises are more beneficial to protect the ageing painful joints.

Aaah golf, the sport where you need the time to spend hours upon hours on the rolling green hills of a golf course, following a tiny white speck. If you haven't tried golf, there's no time like the month of May which is known as golf month

The modern game of golf originated in 15th-century Scotland, but the game’s ancient origins can be traced back to the Roman game of paganica, in which participants used a bent stick to hit a stuffed leather ball.

Golf Month was created just recently to encourage people who may not think they would like golf to give it a try and benefit from all this sport has to offer.

Golf can be good for your health:

🏌️‍♀️Playing golf gets you outdoors and keeps you there. Be honest, how much time do you really spend outside? Seeing as how most jobs are stuffy office jobs these days, we assume your answer to this question is, “Not to much”. A game of golf is guaranteed to keep you outdoors and breathing in that fresh air for approximately 4 hours!
🏌️‍♀️ Golfing burns plenty of calories. Surprised? You shouldn’t be. The average golf player walks between 5 and 7 kilometers during one game, which burns about 1,000 calories. And all without breaking a sweat!
🏌️‍♀️ Golf has been proven to reduce stress levels. Thanks to the hours spent either almost alone or conversing with fellow players on a wonderfully green backdrop, golfers tend to be relaxed and more ready to face stress and challenges than players of other sports.

On World Ballet Day we reflect that there’s something magical about going to ballet. The music, the outfits, the utter passion of the dance as the ballet artists lose themselves to the performance. There is an almost magical power in their graceful movements across the stage, like flower petals on a stiffening breeze.

Posture is such an essential element of ballet. The way dancers stand and carry themselves is an important element to ballet technique. This is because adopting the proper posture is designed to protect the joints and muscles, by ensuring they are positioned in a way that gives them maximum strength and range.

Good posture is not only important to a dancer, its important for each and every one of us. Here are some surprising benefits to good posture:

1. Better breathing
Research shows that poor posture negatively affects your ability to breathe deeply and fill your lungs. Slouching shortens the muscles at the front of your body and reduces your ability to breathe in fully. Standing up tall may actually improve your ability to bring in good old oxygen by as much as 30%.

2. Super self-confidence
When you stand up tall, you have a presence that’s noticed by others. You look confident, self-assured, and poised. Slouching and slumping communicate a sad demeanour and a lack of self-esteem.

3. Back relief
Your body is designed to stand in a “neutral” position in which your pelvis, head, and torso are in a stacked position. Forward head, tilted hips, and overly curved spines put stress on muscles in ways they aren’t designed to endure. And, over the long term, this stress causes pain – usually in your back. When you have good posture, you use the muscles that support your spine properly.

4. Optimal digestion
When you have good posture, your internal organs align well. That means less compression on your stomach, intestines, and liver, facilitating the free flow of food and digestive juices. A slouched posture inhibits the normal activity of your gastrointestinal system, which makes you vulnerable to digestive distress – including constipation and GERD.

5. Reduced headaches
Dropping your head and drooping your shoulders can create unnecessary tension that contributes to headaches. Research shows that people who have a posture featuring a forward head tend to have more headaches, and they last longer than people who have good posture.

6. Greater function as you age
Your posture affects how your body ages. If you stand with poor posture, it causes stress on connective tissues – especially at your joints – that can make you feel achy and stiff as you age. Good posture throughout a lifetime can keep you feeling mobile as you get older. .

7. Boosted energy
Slouching takes work. Your muscles have to work harder when they’re in an unnatural position, which makes them fatigue faster. With good posture, you don’t waste energy as your muscles are being used efficiently.

8. Improved concentration
The improved oxygen flow that comes with good posture positively affects your brain. The neurons in your brain appreciate the nutrients that come with increased circulation that’s facilitated by good posture too. When your brain’s neurons are nurtured, they fire more effectively – keeping you sharp and on task.

Did you know that Easyheats products can be used cold?

For example, Easyheats Neck should be used cold in the case of an acute injury (e.g., whiplash) within the first 48 hours, to help control bleeding and swelling of the soft tissues.

Also, when inflammation, such as arthritis is present, some people find that cold gives them more relief than heat.

Any of the Easyheats products can be used cold in this way. For more information see https://www.easyheats.com.au/how-they-work/
